I wish you the best, Morris. I just hope that our administration does not offer more money to keep him. There is a such thing as being overrated.

Morris is a good coordinator, but I don't like the smoke and mirrors, gimmick aspect of the offense. More often than not, against a team that you are not going to blow out, playing a ball control style of offense is important. That is not to say a hurry up offense after big plays (say of more than 15 yards) can't be installed. However, executing at a high level on offense against a good defense for more plays can back fire. The big plays and blowouts will be there without running a hurry up, spread offense. I say we need to be multiple, but keep a spread identity. We also need to be able to execute at all times during the game at different paces.

what the hell are you watching anyway. chad runs the spread, yes, but it is a run first offense that is designed for ball control. i swear i think some of you would just rather complain than look at what is really going on. we need players on defense, which we are addressing in recruiting as we type. better players will fix everything.

Well when you limit the offenses touches it takes the opportunity away from the offense to make plays. If the defense could have stopped SCars offense then our offense would have had MORE opportunities. All this can be pointed at the defense.

What happens now with Chizik available?
Nov 25, 2012, 4:34 PM
|
|
It'll be interesting to see if Chizik enters into the conversation up there. And if NC State does lure Morris away from us, what to you guys think about the possibility of getting Chizik to replace him? It would make sense for us from a scheme standpoint, but I don't know if he'd be willing to take a step backward AND leave the SEC.

Chizik doesnt run that kind of offense. Auburn ran it when Malzahn was there. Chizik is a defensive coordinator by trade.

Coach Morris has proven that he is an effective offensive coach with a brilliant mind and a bright future. He has not, however, shown that he is ready for a head coaching spot, imo. The fact that the offense was not able to adjust to USuC's DL last night seems to me that he has some more learning to do. Of course I hope he stays for a few more years, give our Head Cheerleader some opportunity to find his replacement.
Also, NC State had two "great" coaches go up there and self=destruct = D'Amoto and O'Brien.
I believe that Coach Morris will probably be going to VT in a year or two.

Move Morris to HC/OC and Dabo to asst. HC/Recruiting coord
Nov 25, 2012, 8:01 PM
|
|
That would be the best way to keep things going. When Rich Rod left, so went our offense. It didn't return until Coach Morris arrived. I'd hate to see that happen again.

Players are no longer responsible for executing? Heck why
Nov 25, 2012, 8:46 PM

even bother recruiting if the OC is responsible for everything as you presume?!
Morris has built up one of the country's best offenses but one poorly executed game vs SC nullifies it all, huh? Bye bye rationality, hello ignorance!! That's my response to you.

One poorly executed game against SC? In my book, it's both games against SC.

Any Clemson fan saying that Morris can go is crazy. Any and all success you've had on the field the last two years was single handedly because of him and his schemes. I'd love to see him go and dabo stay, no flame. He's a great offensive coach. Not sure he's a head coach though. Not yet. Probably headed back to texas area when he does.
