he has a lot to learn in a short amount of time.
Besides, Does Watson seem like a kid hat will be around for 5 years?

Many QBs (e.g. Barkley & RS-Sr. Luck) surprise & stay sr. yr

If Stoudt stays healthy and if Olson & Schussler can provide adequate backup, then there's not much downside to red-shirting Watson, like Jameis Winston. If Olson was smart enough to get into (and graduate from) Stanford then he's probably smart enough to learn Morris's offense.
Watson MAY not stay for more than 3 years, but the kid hasn't played a down of D-1 college football yet so it's a bit early to declare him for early entry into the NFL draft. A lot can happen and you never know what a kid will decide to do. Who would have thought that Matt Barkley, Andrew Luck, Jake Locker, CJ Spiller, and many others would have foregone likely 1st round NFL draft status to come back for their senior seasons? Heck, Andrew Luck forewent a likely 1st round pick to come back for his 5th-year-senior season.
Hopefully Watson will pan out and want to come back for a 5th consecutive national championship.

We can use the extra body. Played behind Andrew Luck and their other QB so he never really had a chance.

Well obviously he is a smart kid and may be able to pick up the offense quick enough to be able to play in an emergency. Does this mean they try to redshirt Watson, the guy only has one year to play?

He needs reps in the weight room. As skinny as he is he can never take the pounding required to be a factor in our offense, which depends on a dual threat quarterback. He's already injured. Give him a break.

Agreed - I don't think we will redshirt him. He will be the man come '15 and why throw him out there with no experience.

After a couple of days of folks talking about the transfer, this is the last anyone will hear his name. Maybe he holds for kicks, but that would be about it. Be surprised if he is even on the travel squad next year.

because of the knowledge he brings from another very successful program in Stanford. You don't hold a clipboard for 4 years and not pick up some things worth passing along and it seems like Dabo and the Chad recognized the opportunity to gain some potentially valuable insight.

Probably useful only if we play Stanford & their pro-style O

I kinda doubt that Olson's knowledge of Stanford's pro-style offense was a factor, at all, in the coaches' decision to take Olson. Morris runs a spread offense and undoubtedly knows plenty about pro-style offenses. However, if the kid is smart enough to get into Stanford, then he's probably smart enough to quickly learn Morris's spread offense and provide depth, which MIGHT provide the opportunity for Watson to redshirt if Stoudt stays healthy.

Stanford has run some pretty innovative sets recently

multiple tight ends, etc.
Plus someone who's been at a very successful program for 4 years has to have some insight as to what they do differently to have that success both on and off the field.

he's obviously coming as a safety net in case Stoudt gets hurt, but he must have some confidence that he can play too, or it wouldn't be worth his effort to relocate. I think it will be tough for Watson as a true freshman to be ready to lead the offense. if we see him start, I don't think it will be a good thing.
