Its time for folks to quit messing with Dabo and whom he recruits or plays. Everytime and i mean EVERYTIME someone doubts Dabo it just blows up in their face and they have to eat crow. So welcome aboard Amir, and thanks for being ALL IN!!

Like Stoudt over Watson?***

Jan 4, 2015, 7:09 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm quite certain CM had more to do with that then people

Jan 4, 2015, 8:34 PM

admit. Part of the problem was CM trying to get a pocket passers-by with limited mobility to run an option game rather than changing the game plan to what said pocket passer was capable of. I kept saying he has the tools, and he does and would make a good NFL backup, but not the decision making capabilities of running an option.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

go back and watch the available video

Jan 5, 2015, 12:22 AM

when asked about Watson , Chad body language changes drastically and he begins the "paid his dues" babble that Dabo was spewing. Chad wanted Watson on the field and Dabo overrode his decision.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Once again you have no clue

Jan 5, 2015, 10:32 AM

and while I like CM, he trained our current OC's for 4 years, he's no QB coach. Streeter proved he was a better QB coach in just a couple of weeks with Cole. That doesn't mean that Chad is not a great OC, he's just one that has to have a QB to fit his system.Even Boyd was going somewhere else each off season to get trained by other experts.

Re: I'm quite certain CM had more to do with that then people

Jan 5, 2015, 10:26 AM [ in reply to I'm quite certain CM had more to do with that then people ]

And if you doubt this, look what Cole did in the bowl game. CM might have been brilliant but he was also hard-headed.

Re: Like Stoudt over Watson?***

Jan 5, 2015, 7:51 AM [ in reply to Like Stoudt over Watson?*** ]

I'm pretty sure Dabo recruited Watson. Am I wrong...did you recruit him? Dabo has a pretty recruiting record. I'd agree there are likely more highly rated players who would love the scholly, but I think I'll let Dabo do his job.

Get pissed at Dabo and staff for taking a legacy recruit who MAY turn out to be pretty good and productive in the end. #### and let the staff do their jobs without having to listen to all this whining. Some of you sound like a bunch of coots. Hint Hint.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgmilitary_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There's a point here you are missing as well

Jan 5, 2015, 7:58 AM [ in reply to Re: lowly 2 star Grady Jarred says hi... ]

It doesn't hurt to have a collection of NFL talent that continues to associate with the program after they have moved on. It's good for recruiting to be able to show off a cadre of former NFL players when recruits come to visit. This is a big picture type deal. It's part of selling the Clemson program as a "family" which so many of our elite recruits have pointed out as being a special factor about Clemson. So while it may look like we are doing James Trapp a favor, in reality this move is just as beneficial to Clemson as it is to the Trapp family.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

there is a point of diminishing returns

Jan 5, 2015, 10:12 AM

also and I think with the current recruiting atmosphere that Dabo will run headlong into that the 2016 class with D3 players taking scholarships from desparetly needed positions.

Re: He is James Trapp's son.

Jan 4, 2015, 8:54 PM [ in reply to Re: He is James Trapp's son. ]

Just because he's James Trapp son doesn't mean he doesn't deserve a scholarship. Plus he's from Daniel and Dabo wants to keep the flow of talent from Daniel to Clemson open. Trapp played in the Shrine bowl this year and surprised the coaches with his talent. It could turn out this kid is a steal, but we shouldn't take him because his dad works at Clemson? Sorry I can't wrap my mind around that logic.

Trap's always had a Greyshirt offer .Question was, would he take the full ride he had offered at other schools. This has nothing to do with Fields, the Bama Recruit calling our coaches or any other DB over out there. He start school next January, redshirt his freshman year and contribute his last 3 years on campus. Besides all this,he looked better than all the more highly rated DB's at the Shrine Bowl this year. Our coaches know how to recruit.

We lose higher ranked players each year when they decide to transfer. We must backfill their spots with walk-on players. I doubt that Trapp will transfer with his family connections. Basically, he will be filling one of the scholarships that a walk-on would have.

Its the same lineup in 2017 so who does he jump ? I can promise you that he does'nt play against a D1 while he is here unless all of our starters are injured.

Re: The kid was a shrine bowler

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: The kid was a shrine bowler

Jan 4, 2015, 6:27 PM

Who takes the scholarship of the player when he transfers after spring practice? More talented players will be ahead of Trapp and he will more than likely stay due to his family connections. Therefore, you will not need to spend a scholarship on a walk-on. Trapp is way better than 99.9% of our current walk-on players.

Every year we take kids just to add depth at certain positions

Jan 4, 2015, 6:39 PM

Also just because a kid is not highly rated, does not mean they can't play. This kid is underrated, and will be a solid backup in a few years and this is Dabo staying true to program being about family by bringing a legacy. Jan 4, 2015, 8:00 PM

It's not because they are more talented than others that we signed. It's because others have decided to leave and freed up a scholarship for them. We will still sign enough 4 star guys to fill a two deep. Even 3 star guys (some not all) that are 3rd string will leave and walk-on players will take their scholarship. Trapp is more likely to stay and eliminate that one walk-on player scholarship. Trapp is better than your average walk-on.
