Clemson is producing first round draft picks from 3 and 4 star recruits at the DE position. This young man has the potential to be a top five pick if he comes to Clemson and gets the correct coaching.

I think he'd certainly see significant time. The dude is an absolute gamer. This year, we had guys like Christian Wilkins, Carlos Watkins, Albert Huggins & Scott Pagano on the line for us, but Dexter Lawrence was just too good to be denied. Wilkins shifting out to fill in for an injured Bryant obviously helped expedite things slightly, but I think he probably would have seen just as much playing time.
Thomas is that level of player, and while he may not be a day 1 starter, he'd see significant playing time immediately.

It really is a no brainer comparing the 2 schools. But I just get that feel like he's pulling a Clowney bringing us into it just to rub in our face picking the coots on decision day. I hope I'm wrong and we're truly in this and its not just a....."I'm a coot all along, but lets string Clemson a long for play and get their hopes up" We'll see tho, he seemed to really enjoy his trip to Clemson and expect to be back.

He'll be starting Day one at Clemson too but on a MUCH better defense. I'm sure the easy 56 points that we put on the coots against a "defensive coach" didn't help their pitch. Venables just won ACOTY and has arguable been the best defensive coach the last few years. He has an attacking style that will take full advantage of XT's athleticism. It really is a good match.
If he wants to go to the coots that's fine because we know how to coach up lineman but he won't play for a defense that gets any national spotlight like Clemson's.

Last week or so he makes some big announcement about some big news and then lists like a top 7. Then he comes out of nowhere and narrows out down to us and the cooterz. That's more like it. It appears he would like to go to Columbia but not if their program cannot turn around. So there you go usc junior, if you want this 5 star talent you better make some waves next year or he for sure is Clemson bound. Our maybe he is anyway and trying not to hurt your feelings? Either way, game on!

Who does his family favor the most, Clemson or the coots. I think that regardless of who they are a fan of, they should want for him to go where he will have the best chances to go further at the next level, and that is hands down Clemson University!!!

Personally, I would like our chances more if there were more programs still in play. As we all know, he grew up a Coot fan and is surrounded by Coots.
I would think getting a glimpse inside multiple successful programs during the recruiting process would provide even more insight on how far behind the Coots are from being relevant in college football.
Then, his desire to stay home would separate CU from other top national programs.

In all honesty I think its much more simple, from his actions with social media and enrolling at IMG. He wants to distance himself from cootville and get ready to be a Tiger!

I absolutely agree that this guy will benefit from working with Coach V and Co, but what are the realistic chances with a player from flirence. I guess I feel better with him going to IMG. This keeps him away from coots. From what I can see see, the coots are not a real threat to get other IMG players that may try to recruit him. Us on the other hand...... this guy is an incredible player. His film looks filthy.....kinda like Clowney's coming out of South Point.

Not trying to be glass half empty but...based on what he said it leads you to believe he wants to go to USC if they show enough progress this upcoming year. I think it is pretty easy to see that our program has reached elite national status under Dabo and I truest don't know what else he needs to see in the next year from us. I hope he ends up a Tiger because the Gamecocks need about 50 players to compete nationally not just one.

Yep, I'm a Florence resident. He's all coot. Grew up during their 11 win years so he is still brainwashed into believing it could happen again. We will be in it until the end, but I'll be shocked if he goes anywhere other than USuc

IMG: Mike Jones
Dec 14, 2016, 11:45 AM

I felt pretty good about getting this kid until reading some of y'alls comments about him being from Florence and growing up a coot fan. That said, there is some merit to one comment about the kid wanting to get out of Florence and the coot pressure by going to IMG...read about a kid from TN that had done the same (didn't want the Vol pressure and ended up going elsewhere after IMG). But more importantly was the piece a few days ago about Mike Jones (LB, Clemson commit at IMG) and how he said he was going to spend all of next season working on getting XT to come with him to Clemson. I'd say there's a bit more of a chance if he and Jones become close and Jones is able to knock some sense into him about his choice of schools - i.e. don't got to USuC cause you'll simply be a great player on a ###### team, come with me to Clemson and we'll play in Natty's. And let's face it, I highly doubt there's anyone else at IMG thinking about or going to USuC so the Jones kid could have a lot to do in swaying him, if he's really a coot lean.
All that said, if he's not a high character kid...he's like a Clowney...then let him go to USuC. No matter how good he is we're an elite team and will have other elite players coming in, we don't need scumbags like USuC, UGA, and L'ville do/are known for.

It should be a simple choice. Come play for a program that will develop you both physically and mentally and put you in the best possible position to make and succeed in the nfl. Or go to a program that loses, is a middle-tier program and is not good at developing talent into nfl-caliber players.
Also a Clemson degree holds a ton more weight than a cootville one.
