College football lunacy is in high gear. It almost feels like blood money. Kiffin isnt worth half that amount.

Smart teams are going to get a successful guy from the non-power 5 teams, pay him high 6 figures, and move the rest of the money onto the field. Coaching is wildly overvalued right now. The part of coaching that was valuable was recruiting and retention, and that is pretty much over. Now you need an Xs and Os guy at HC and a shark at GM.

Unfortunately, those guys are probably not going to make it in the P5 anymore. If they are good salesmen with loose morals, they can become good GMs, but if they are actually great guys, they are going to be coaching at Jacksonville State or wherever.

P4 head coaching jobs won't go for high-6 figures. No chance.
How do you propose moving head coach money "onto the field"?

can hire anyone and pay them anything less than something in the 5-10mil/year range. These jobs themselves kind of have a built in salary floor. Anyone that takes the Alabama job is going to expect to be paid 10mil+ per year. Alabama might be able to drive the figure down a few mil for somebody that's under-qualified for the job, but I don't think saving a few million there is going to be worth it, and I just don't see how they get anyone to take the job for something like 1mil/year. That's like 7-8% of what Kirby is making right now.

My point was…
Money is not bringing them back into it. They all have more money than they know what to do with, and they got out because they don’t want to deal with all the ridiculous crap.

My take is Lane Kiffin may be the best Offensive Coach in the country

If people don't like his personality, and early life immaturity in the spotlight, I get it. But he can take an unknown QB and develop him into one of the best in the country in a matter of months not years. Kiffin is to Offense what Brent Venables is to Defense.
As for the Florida job, Kiffin will kill it. He'll take what he wants from Ole Miss team and have the most fertile recruiting state in the country competing against sinking FSU and mercurial Miami.

Just a simple question. What do you buy that is worth the money? Kiffin is as good as they come and the market drives the price for coaches just like any other product.

I actually think he is worth that. It is a multi-billion dollar industry (and growing) and he is one of the best offensive minds in the game. He has taken numerous portal QBs at Ole Miss and competed at the highest level with all of them.

Who would you rate as a better coach among those available? Available meaning not retired (Saban) and without a huge buyout. If Kiffen is not the top candidate for several open jobs then he is #2 or 3 at worst.

He is actually averaging 3.5 losses a year. Kiffin is actually averaging 4 losses a year. So maybe Dabo is better?
