t the coach, was that, as averse as he was to throwing the ball downfield....we would run the option, and the QB would trun it upfield for say 10 yards..AND THEN PUT IT THE BALL IN JEOPARDY BY PITCHING TO THE TRAILING TAILBACK......I cannot imagine a team doing that now...

Super annoying that they didn't put the scoreboard graphic on the screen for the whole game. You had to wait until they went to a commercial before they put the score on the screen. Bless the person who invented the score graphic in the corner of the screen. lol

It was not my first but was definitely at, or near, the top of my favorite games vs. the Coots.

We were so poor we couldn’t afford to go to games even back then. 😂
I suppose the pitch back on the option was still a higher % play than a downfield pass in terms of potential turnover. I.e. low turnover potential. Kind of like a screen pass.

It's the only Clemson South Carolina game that I have missed since 1974. My father decided we would stay home and watch it on TV.

I will never forget sitting on the second row of their end zone and wondering what was happening on the other side of the field after Dwight Clark made his huge catch. In my mind, I can still see the SCAR lamecock players pulling up their jerseys displaying their Tee shirts which said: "No cigars today."

Don't remember mine. My folks were weird. I would go to away games when I was a kid in the 70s. But I stayed at my grandparents in Central when they started going to games.
Didn't go to a game till around maybe 80.
