Fire the football schedular guy or they

Sooooo, in 2024 the first game of the season is against Georgia. Now, unlike the Pros, there are no practice games before the “real” games. Common sense, you always play your cupcakes FIRST so you can tune up. Then I saw one of our cupcakes is App State ? Right after Georgia ? App State is no cupcake.

I am sure Clemson will be ready. But still, I would rather see the lads tune up first. Coaches see if the Grand Strategery is still viable under real game conditions. Then go play say, Georgia. Awesome job against ND. Keep it up ! Love to see Clemson play Oregon State in a Bowl !

Strength of schedule matters. If it comes down to comparing teams with the same w/l record, the common opponents and quality of opponents is the difference between getting a CFP invite and not. Gotta get rid of the cupcakes on the schedule.

Right but B1G and SEC in conference schedules perceived as sufficient whereas All Coast Conference not viewed in same manner

My main concerns about our recent/future schedules is not only the lack of "warm-up" games the first week but mainly how often we open the season away from Death Valley. Including next season Clemson will have opened the season on the road 5 straight years and 6 out of the past 9 years. I know these Labor Day/Prime time games our good for exposure but I'm not so sure they are good for "easing into the season". On the other hand we have only lost 2 of these games (both of which with a little less bad luck we would have won). However, I miss opening the season in Death Valley instead of traveling else where to attend the opening game.

Some of our best recent seasons started with games against SEC teams. Home and home with Auburn and T A&M come to mind. A big win in one of those really jump starts your season.

It used to be that way years ago that you opened with a cupcake but not anymore. TV demands otherwise.
