Finebaum is landing on the Freeze situation w/ both feet

stating several times on air that there'll be more that comes out now---and hinting it may involve even more NCAA issues (beyond the 21 violations already detailed). Finebaum is also openly questioning Russ Bjork's (Ole Miss AD) actions now. Ya hate to be the one to throw rocks at a program who didn't hire hookers for recruits like Louisville nor broke every academic standard to keep their athletes eligible to play like unc......but the Nkemdiche surprising decommit from Clemson did lasso us Tiger fans into an opinion of Freeze's program.
Rhetorical question---is there any Clemson fan wading in Reality Creek who doesn't firmly believe that some sort of financial recompense transpired when Robert Nkemdiche decommitted from the Tigers and jumped immediately into the Ole Miss camp??? If you look back at all the things Robt. N. was saying prior to his switch, he seemed pretty happy with his 1st choice--even maybe a bit defiant towards a mother who was making some unpleasant noise in the media.....yet, in the space of just a couple of days it all changed.
And even though I don't wanna pass too much judgement on somebody's personal issues, the Nkemdiche thing sort of drew all us Clemson fans into the fray before it actually happened because the feeling was strong in Tigertown something untoward had taken place.
Maybe some of the stuff Finebaum is hinting at may be related to the Nkemdiche family---who knows??

You don't go from a mediocre program to pulling in:
#1 offensive lineman tunsil
#1 wr Treadwell
#1 dl kmediche
And sell them on the idea or notion to come there and lets turn things around

Coach Conn was also his legal guardian. Mom was living in Nigeria...until she blew in during June without much warning and let everyone know how things were going to be. There was no discussion on the matter, I'll leave it at that.
Yes, Ole Miss almost without a doubt bought Nkimdiche, who was not just the #1-rated DE in the country but the #1-ranked overall player. They also likely bought Laquon Treadwell - the #1-rated WR for his class - and Laramy Tunsil, the #1-rated offensive tackle for his class. admitted during the NFL draft a few years ago on live TV that he was being paid. Those were transparently obvious to anyone who followed recruiting, even those who didn't know the specifics, and it was kind of painful watching the Ned Flanders types around here trying to rationalize things. The Rebs were also busting caps in the air left and right like Yosemite Sam, letting every recruit on the planet know they'd be happy to pay whatever it took...kinda exactly like Georgia is doing now, in fact. They weren't even being subtle. They simply didn't give a crap who knew what they were up to. They just denied it publicly with that so-smug look on their faces (that Come At Me Bro moment Freeze had when he told everyone to report their suspicions to Ole Miss compliance was some priceless hubris, there) and somehow brazenly assumed nothing was ever going to touch them...despite the fact that there was a growing collection of even SEC coaches appalled at how brazen Ole Miss was being. (Brett Bielema at Arkansas said publicly he was "shocked" by how Ole Miss - and Florida! - were recruiting.)
Folks, you simply do not drive by 20 better schools to go to a school coming off a 5-7 season hundreds of miles (in some cases more than a thousand miles) from home. Treadwell was from Indiana. Tunsil was from Florida. Nkimdiche was from Atlanta. At that point Hugh Freeze's big selling point was he had been portrayed as the idiot high school coach in The Blind Side.
Ole Miss is also not the only program buying players, though they were the most flagrantly Wild West, at least a few years ago...a title that has apparently since been supplanted by UGA. Kirby Smart's crew isn't being much more subtle at the moment than Freeze's was. FWIW.

family ties there, or grew up an Auburn fan, I cannot understand how he would go there vs Clemson. We have a more stable coaching staff, just as nice a campus (plus we have a lake), similar fan bases, better facilities, and, look at what we have done the last four years record-wise and playing them. Add to all of this, their probation history.
I stated in a post a couple of weeks ago that I have a high school classmate that ended up doing very well business wise in Atlanta. He once told me like ten years ago that he and around 15 other alums met at the Cossa Country Club in Rome, GA every summer and pooled their money into a pot to help their recruiting.
I smell a rat.

talking about how Hugh Freeze's actions were not consistent with Ole Miss' "core values to do the right thing." So you don't mind the blatant cheating and paying recruits for 5+ years, support Freeze at every turn, but now must follow your core values to do the right thing. The only thing that happened is you were caught red-handed this time and had to throw somebody under the bus. The AD should be fired too.
