Feel bad for Ashton Jeanty

Feel like he deserved it more than Hunter.
Hunter is an incredible athlete don’t mistake me but what Jeanty has done this year, playing for Boise St nonetheless, is incredible.
Take Hunter off Colorado and they still probably finish the same. Take Jeanty off Boise and there’s no way they’re a playoff team.

The dude is 132 yards away from breaking the all time single season rushing record. At Boise State. All while leading his team to the #3 seed in the CFP. Seems like it shouldn’t really be a conversation honestly.

Heisman isn’t the same award anymore. Used to go to the best player in college football. Now it goes to the one with the most hype. Hunter wasn’t the best at either position, receiver or defensive back stats wise. He could just play both and the Coach Prime hype machine did the rest. In my opinion, Jeanty should have won it. But I also thought Lawrence and Watson should have as well.

Completely agree.
Colorado did everything they could to inflate Hunters stats to assure he wrapped up the Heisman and even put together essentially a PR team to campaign for it.

Hunter was a baller, difference maker.a better argument

Would be Hunter was a really good player but Jeanty was another level. When you act like Hunter was a fraud your argument loses credibility. The kid played on both sides of the ball and was the best player on the field in both phases. That’s pretty cool. And from what I’ve gathered he’s a great kid with really admirable character. Glad for him. He had me convinced when he said if he could do anything professionally he’d rather be a pro bass fisherman.

I agree, Jeanty definitely deserved it more. He’s way more important to his team than hunter is. Hunter isn’t even top three in either of the positions he plays. “Snaps aren’t stat”

Hunter was literally one of the best WRs and best DBs in the ncaa. Like 2 players in 1. Jeanty did have an amazing year tho. He would have won almost any other season.

You take Hunter off of that team and they are just about the same team.
Take Jeanty off of Boise and are they still the #3 seed in the playoffs?
Like I said, I won’t argue Hunter being incredibly talented. But Jeanty is about to break a nearly 40 year old record. The award is supposed to go to the most deserving player and I find it hard to argue that Jeanty isn’t the most deserving player in CFB.

Losing one of the best cover corners in the country and one of your top WRs would be a pretty big blow IMO.

Has anybody in 40 years had 4 ints and 14 receiving TDs? The kid is top 7 in pass deflections and 2nd in recieving TDs. That is not heard of. Jeanty is an amazing offensive player. Hunter is an amazing offensive player. Hunter is also an amazing defensive player. Take Hunter off Colorado and they are not 9-3. Not saying Jeanty isn't amazing. Both players have had years not seen in my lifetime.

You're on drugs if you think Colorado doesn't still go 9-3 without Hunter. They have a top 5 QB. Hunter missed games and Sheduer never missed a beat. If your team has a top tier QB you always stand a chance.
So many athletes can do what Hunter did, but they aren't given that opportunity by their head coaches. You have 5 star Athletes that play both ways, you think they'd magically just suck or become mediocre at one side of the ball?
Jeanty single handedly carried a team into the playoffs and almost beat the #1 team in the nation dang near by himself. Who did Hunter stress like that by himself?

I think Jeanty is more important to his team but I do not think Colorado is 9-3 without Hunter. He was a top 5 wr. That isn't just filled with the next guy up like u are trying to assume.

But Jeanty played in a non power 4 conference.

[ in reply to Re: Feel bad for Ashton Jeanty ] |

That’s why he didnt get it. Do that in a power 4 with like talent and defensive coaches on the other side and you more than likely don’t acquire all these yards. And if you do, then you win the Heisman. This is the obvious issue.

I’ve ever seen. I don’t understand how you guys who’ve watched the games can refute that. Is dude from Boise better than Ricky Williams, Eddie George, or Reggie bush? Nah. And they only played offense.
Glad Hunter won.

It's a popularity award now that's influenced by social media much more than people would like to admit.
Idk how you can ignore it being given as an mvp award when more often than not QBs win it, they are almost never the best total football player in the country, but they are usually the most valuable. A precedence has been set by 20+ years of giving out the award as if it were an MVP.

I can remember when awarding the Heisman was prime time news, now it a passing stat. Has always been given too early butt really showed its stupidity when #4 was snubbed and went on to win the Natty. #16 snub wasn't quite as bad because of the covid crap when the whole world went into a tail-spin.

but how many more games?
Love the running back and he will do well in the league but he will fall in the pack with other ‘good’ backs.
On the other hand Hunter will be a shutdown corner with a good team.
He is very deserving of the 2024 Heisman!

He won't be a corner in the NFL. They will want him at wr, and that position gets paid more as well.

If an NFL team wants to take advantage of his two-way ability, I think it'd be easier to be a full-time CB and get sprinkled in at WR.
