He beat Auburn and Miami. Both teams that were very close to making the playoffs. We lost to Bama it does not mean he cannot beat them. Get over yourself dude.

So the D scored the 2 TDs? Must have watched a different game. When we beat Auburn 19-13 the year before who won us that game?

If you score less than 20 points in a college football game and win, the defense probably won the game.

Or maybe both teams have a great D and one offense did better than the other? Couldn't be that tho.

... and "He" didn't lose to Bama all by himself
May 30, 2018, 2:09 PM
|
|
The same people who laud DW4 for taking us to razor thin victories, want to blame KB2 for doing the same thing.
One could easily blame the 2017 Syracuse loss on the defense ... we scored plenty of points to win that game.
One could also blame the 2016 Pittsburgh loss on the DW4, who was very careless with the ball in critical situations when the game should have been well in hand.
We did not play well as a team against Alabama and we lost. It was a team loss equally shared by all three units (including special teams) ... we lost about 10 yards every time we exchanged punts and field position was crucial.

Normally, I agree with you...this one I can't fully.
Syracuse was the defense's fault and Cooper's, plain and simple. They couldn't stop Dungey, and Cooper just wasn't having a good day. Bryant should have never been on the field with his bad ankle...that fault is on the coaches.
But Pitt...Anyone can get on about Deshaun's "careless mistakes" against Pitt, but again, defense and bad ref calls by a South Carolina graduate head ref is what also lost that one. I don't care if DW4 made 3 interceptions; 3 passing TD's and 580 yards of passing should have easily been enough to win that one with Gallman's 3 rushing TD's. And to be honest, that game wasn't "well in hand" when his mistakes were made that were costly score wise. His first one, they punted afterwards (wash)...the 2nd, the game was 21-20 Clemson when they intercepted him, not in hand. The next was 42-34 Clemson, but also count that is after Clemson scored a TD off a fumble turnover as well...goes both ways.
But several blown 3rd down stop calls that extended Pitt in 2 different drives didn't do much favors (2 bogus PI calls, Boulware on a legit stop), then the D's lack of stopping a shovel pass was the break-it on that game. When (or should I say if) Bryant has a 3 TD, 580 yard passing game in his entire career, or anything remotely close to that, let me know. I think I'll give him a pass on a few careless mistakes with that performance. He's only had 1 game above 300 yards passing, and that was Louisville.

"Well in hand" is probably an exaggeration, but
May 30, 2018, 4:14 PM
|
|
I honestly thought that in spite of all the things that had happened previously, the interception when we were going in for what should have been the winning score (TD or FG) was devastating and totally on Deshaun.
My only point was that Deshaun got credit for doing some good things that KB did as well, but he was cut slack when he made some of the same mistakes that KB was roundly criticized for.

I see what you mean, just keep in mind KB will get more criticism, because he didn't quite match the performances of DW nor the consistency. They are 2 different beasts. DW had high interceptions, but that wasn't the only thing high in his stats. He had 41 passing TD's in 2016, and 35 passing TD's in 2015...vs Bryant's 13. He averaged 306.2 yards per game in 2016 and 273.6 yards/game in 2015...vs Bryant's 200.14/game. DW had a 38 pass attempt avg/game in 2016 vs Bryant's 28. Plus his 12 rush TD's in 2015 and 9 in 2016 (when they game planned him run less), vs KB's 11 when that's supposed to be his strength.

We are so loaded at the WR position , I have NO reservation saying that our 3rd string WR's could start at about 75% of the D1 schools around the country . Our 2nd team looks as good as many top schools front liners .
Ridiculous.

I am worried about tackle. Hopefully JC is as good as we are all hoping because if one of our starters goes down we could be hurting. Reeves listed as the back up at RT? That isn't great depth imo. I know Simpson can slide to guard and we have lots of depth at Guard.

Definitely see why HJ left now. From this he was probably listed 3rd. Really thought we’d see an OR. Not sure when voicing your “opinions” on who you think should be starting over another player means you hate the other player (s) but evidently it does.
I would have been really curious to know if HJ hadn’t transferred if it said KB or HJ.

Very surprised that Tre Lamar is not in the starting lineup. He is one of the more physical players on the roster. Also curious why Dexter Lawrence and Albert Huggins are listed as co starters.

bc Albert Huggins might be the best DT on the team

He's going to be backing up CW and co star with big Dex. Means he's going to play alot and you'll hear his name alot this year. Dude gets results when he's on the field.

Some surprising information in this Depth Chart..... No it is unfortunately not surprising that KB is listed as the starter.
- Etienne listed as 1st string - Tre Lamar listed behind Kendall Joseph at MLB - Dexter Lawrence and Albert Huggins 1a and 1b - Amari Rodgers sitting first team (really excited about him) he's a bigger faster Artavis. - Shaq Smith still 3rd team behind Skalski. Unfortunate he hasn't panned out.

Power hour, redshirt freshman year, plenty of opportunities to excel and yet Shaq Smith has still not broken into the two-deep at linebacker!? What’s the deal?

well, to me, non shockers are: Kelly Bryant at #1 ....that's expected. If they end up giving the job to Lawrence, it won't be until during the season. Dabo isn't going to take it away from Kelly through practices unless an injury forces it. That battle will be won/lost on the field in live action...I wouldn't expect until after T A&M. Starter doesn't mean that's who plays most of the game, hope everyone remembers that aspect. Stoudt started an FSU game that DW played 3/4 of.
Tre Lamar at #2 LB. ...personally think that's only due to his limited spring and they need to see him back at 100% in fall camp. Expect this one to likely work itself out by the beginning of the season as long as he's healthy through the fall. he is the best linebacker, but they won't have him at #1 again until the health concern is proven to be resolved. Likely also why the "or" is on Big Dex vs Huggins.
Shockers to me are: Yeargin sliding all the way to 5th...unexpected. Know the injury thing, but that's still a far slide.
Feaster sliding behind Choice (I know it says or, but 2nd is typically the first listed)...did he regress in the spring...maybe the issue he's mentioned of wanting to lose weight due to speed regression? Did Choice come on stronger than we heard?
Shaq Smith still at the bottom...figured he'd have been catching on by now. Concerning to see an ex 5 star having issues with technique for this long.
The "or" being between Higgins and Thompson instead of being on Thompson and Overton. I would have thought Higgins was the obvious #1 and the battle/share would be between the backups;

It always confuses me to see people bash KB for the bama
May 23, 2018, 4:55 PM
|
|
game yet they always fail to bring up how bama destroyed our OL from beginning to end and was in the backfield from the moment the ball was snapped. KB didn’t play great but he also never really got a chance to play great in that game. Deshaun Watson is undeniably the best QB to ever play for us and when Alabama was wrecking our OL in that first half of the championship game like they did in last years sugar bowl they made Deshaun look the same as KB did.

a-ha! you answered your own question
May 23, 2018, 5:38 PM
|
|
why did they wreck our OL last year and them mysteriously not wreck them as much in the second? Deshaun started completing passes down the field. KB never did. which is why they wrecked our OL the first and second half of the sugar bowl. Which is why there is so much talk about needing a passer at QB against Bama. If you don't have one. It won't go well.
Bama will dominate any college OL when they're constantly crowding the line and coming down hill. But the moment you start hitting stuff behind them.. they'll have to stop manhandling your line so much.

I’m very proud of my long snapper Patrick Phibbs, because I never hear his name during the game but c’mon man he’s been starting place kicks and FG’s for a year. His name is PATRICK PHIBBS. Shout out to Austin Spence for killin punts last year, as well! Sincerely, A Tiger Mama

Would we actually play Batson at QB if the other 3 go down?

Or would we stick Renfrow or DK back there? They were both high school QBs...

Batson was a HS QB as well

it only makes sense that he is listed because he is in the QB room taking in all of the info whereas Renfrow and DK are not in the QB room at all... you would probably only see DK or Renfrow take wildcat type snaps but they won't be taking snaps to hand off or pass, might as well put Batson in there for a hand off...

Poor decision Dabo at QB. I see you haven’t learned your lesson. Mr. Mediocre...I mean Kelly Bryant, will not win the Tigers a National Championship.
