Fascinating discussions in here today

As a fed who has also not gotten paid a full paycheck since Sept but has been working through the shutdown, it’s been interesting reading it.

People are certainly entitled to their opinions. Some may get a bit more of an eye roll than others.

Not sure where those controllers are living at. Judging by their pay, I’d imagine they are in one of the HCOL areas. For those that don’t know…a person who works in Estill and is the same grade/step as a person that works in San Francisco is paid the same base wage. There’s a seperate cost of living calculation that’s tacked on based on where you work. So those higher salaries are because they live in an expensive area.

So if they are controllers at say, Dulles or Reagan, they have two options - they can commute two or more hours to work each day for a reasonably priced house, or live closer and pay outrageous prices. You folks wanted a controller keeping you safe that’s exhausted from a long commute, or do you want them awake so you can judge them for trying to stretch out their dollars to maintain some semblance of quality of life?

Well said, the people who are complaining on here are perfect - perfect job, perfect family, house, car, life and they do not have a clue what a fed does. They just want everyone to be miserable like they are.

freakin hayseeds. I love the morons that say less government, but have no clue of all the luxuries that the government provides.

Thanks for what you and many others are doing.

I am glad you were not referring to me then.

Because I say less government and usually know which things I think we should get rid of on a federal level and turned over to the states, from a state level to a district and things that the government should not be involved in at all.

who worked at the Pentagon as an "accountant". Raised 5 daughters, one of them Mrs Pabsts lifelong friend whom I met in graduate school. She has worke for the National Archives for over 20 years. Her father commuted, by multiple trains, from the eastern panhandle of WV to the Pentagon daily. Was a hellofva person and American.

I have friends with EPA and Army Corps.

My friends with the EPA have continued to work and by work I mean work! Some are scientists and some lawyers. All without pay.
I know they're working because the executive office is still working and requiring them to review documents that are slated to be published for public comment very soon. One will change the definition of Waters of the US.

Army Corp friends are still working. They were paid until last week...this week no pay.

I thank you all for what you do, to try and keep our people safe...either via plane flights, clean air/water or any others freedoms we may seem to take for granted...until those freedoms are gone.
