norm for clemson how many have we lost to the portal?
there is no loyalty in college sports any more the ncaa has seen to that.
the ncaa is making billions while destroying the game.

And how many have been impact players at Power 5 schools, two maybe three? This is getting old.

Chase Brice, and Chez Melusi come to mind. There’s the two you stated. Some of them are on their third or fourth schools and still can’t get playing time. Just goes to show there was a reason they weren’t playing at Clemson. Agreed that this is getting very old.

Brice was at Duke and did nothing. Did good at App State that is not Power 5 and Mellusi yes (too bad he can't stay healthy), Kendrick was already kicked off the team (he wasn't a year end transfer) and transferred to UGA after his criminal charges and sentence was adjusted. Kelly Bryant did a decent job at Missouri and Bentley was OK at Colorado this year, but not a star. DJ had the same stats at Oregon State and is gone again.
I hope they play well and get a degree but All-Conference and All-American players aren't leaving Clemson.
Good try though

were players staying simply because they had no reasonable avenue to leave? If players were truly loyal they would stay when presented with a test of said loyalty.
I would argue that nothing has changed in terms of player loyalty, we are simply now finding out the limits of it that were always present but untested.

had noting to do with the NCAA.. it was the schools.
The NCAA fought this as hard as they could. YOU never heard UGA or Bama stand up and say NIL was bad. Or TeXAS... OR ANY OF THOSe OTHer scHOOLS WHO WERE MORE THAN WILLING TO FORK OUT CASH FOR PLAYERS.

I'm not a supporter of the NCAA or the track record. Let's make sure we fully understand where NIL originated. The NCAA could have been part of a solution to implement some sort of level playing field for athlete compensation but they chose to stick their collective heads in the sand and the court system removed any opportunity for them to revisit that decision. If, at any point, the NCAA had updated their governing rules to allow for a level of athlete compensation, NIL as we know it, wouldn't be "out of control". The incompetence of the NCAA isn't b/c NIL was allowed to happen, it's b/c the NCAA failed to acknowledge it was inevitable and tried to fight it or ignored it.
It is absolutely crazy out there. It is going to be until the dust finds a way to settle. Either college sports will cannibalize itself or everyone; players, schools, conferences, agents, boosters and fans, will recalibrate and find a working solution.
As fans, we may not like the future any more than we like the present but that's all there is to it. That's why I asked in another thread if Clemson somehow fell outside of a wide open NIL super conference level of college sports, would you still support Clemson as a fan? I don't know how likely that is but it certainly is possible.

It's sad to say but the smaller P5 schools will become irrelevant and cannot compete in this environment. Clemson does not have the financial horse's these other schools have. They have made it all about the money and we have limited supply. Bowl games will become a joke. Your whole season success will be if you can make the 12 team playoff. They destroyed CFB.
