What’s your favorite bar in downtown Clemson?
Not sure why but I get the vibe that some people in this forum are posting from Sloan Street Tap Room. I can just see it being the hub of TigerNet forum leaders.
Shifting back to my question, my favorite bar is probably still Triple Ts. Sure, it has its flaws but it’s still one of the most consistent choices. Probably wouldn’t be my game day choice at night due to the huge crowd though. Just curious on your thoughts and opinion.

Does Jimmy still own the Tap Room? Unless something has changed, no guarantee it would be open when posted hours said it would.

Jimmy is still there! He has behind there bar every time I have been in there over the last couple of years. To OP, loved that place in the 80's when a student and its still a game day stop on home Saturday's. So I would say that's my favorite. Old TigerTown Tavern was an equal favorite back in the day...vibe there now not the same.

I was in there 7 or 8 years ago and he asked me if wanted some sausage balls. I'm thinking he means like an order of them. I'm also thinking "Sausage balls? I don't remember..." He reaches behind the counter and pulls up a big zip-loc full of them. "Help yourself." 😆

Let’s hear it for the old Red Carpet!
Just kidding. Lester took over the Red Carpet after a shooting in the mens room back in ‘77. He practically turned it into a students only bar and eventually took over the Pizza Hut and the alley to creat the bar today. He later closed the old Lester’s Tiger Den out on 123.
For classic bars, Sloan Street is probably the best when Jimmy is there, and the remnant of Nick’s is still good if you bring your own friends.

Went there for the first time a few weeks ago. I’ve been saying Clemson needs more “modern” types of sports. Esso has seem to be declining in quality the last few years due to lack of employment so that’s been a bummer. However, I was very impressed with Walk-Ons. Solid place to get some good food and a drink.

In 1969 there were only three bars to go to; The Red Carpet, The Study Hall and the side bar at Scotties. Scotties was 5 cents cheaper per can but a long walk back to Johnstone Hall. Happy hour was $1 pitchers. Of course, legal beer drinking age the was 18.

That place was a lot of fun. We used to close down the Top of the Tavern at TTTs as well. That was a fun trip down memory lane!
