Don Munson - Other Options

BAD DECISIONS - For far too long the Clemson Athletic Department has promoted from within. This has not only created a competency gap between Clemson and other institutions, but created an environment of back slapping, nepotism, and unhealthy 'inbreeding'. Instead of eliminating positions or terminating for performance - the administration creates new positions like 'Media Consultant' or 'Internet Public Relations' that allow individuals to live another day in another role. The broadcast work by Pete Yanity was very good in my opinion and he brought a level of professionalism to the booth that is missing with his sidekick on game days. If the Administration wants to go in a different direction - then put together a search committee and advertise the position nationwide. Do not provide the next 'jock-strap' washer from the Athletic Department the opportunity without at least testing the waters for interest. Thumbs down to this decision.
While we are making changes - can we get rid of the sophomoric "Live from the lawn of Littlejohn" show as well. I have heard better radio programming at the I-A high school level.

or the Administration feeling the need to go in a different direction.

to promote from within by giving Dabo the title of head coach for our football program? That sure was a dumb decision, now we're stuck in this rut of only winning 11 football games a year and winning crappy BCS games. Plus he's only won 1 freaking ACC Championship!
Promoting from within never, I repeat never, works.

care what less realistic fans have to say about that.
It is obvious if you listen to other CF radio announcers from around the south and the nation. Most of the other radio announcers sound like amateurs, or some glad-handed smarmy old bumkins who got owed a favor.

Since the AD wants to go in a different direction, I feel I must, also. Many times I've watched games on TV while listening to Pete on the radio...I just enjoyed his game-calling that much. My new direction will now be to put up with the inane TV announcers. I'm going to miss "And there's Orange in the end zone!". Thank, Pete, for the superb job you did over the years.
