If I took an entire week off to celebrate my birthday I probably wouldn't have a job when I returned.

I don't get it.

Like treating dogs as humans. It makes no sense to me.

but I actually celebrated my 59.5 birthday more than any actual birthday I've had in years.
That date made me feel like I had made it, I'm not sure why really.
On the road to getting those sweet senior discounts and stuff!

The number 59.5 is significant primarily in the context of retirement planning in the United States, as it marks a key age for accessing retirement funds without penalty.

Here's why 59.5 is important for retirement savings:
Penalty-Free Withdrawals: Reaching age 59 and a half generally means you can begin taking distributions from your qualified retirement accounts, such as traditional IRAs and 401(k)s, without incurring the 10% early withdrawal penalty that usually applies to withdrawals before that age, according to Police Officers Association of Michigan and the IRS. This doesn't mean withdrawals are entirely tax-free; regular income taxes still apply to distributions from these types of accounts, as they are typically funded with pre-tax dollars.

Increased Flexibility and Options: This age provides greater flexibility in retirement income planning and opens up various strategies. For instance, some 401(k) plans allow in-service distributions at 59.5, meaning you might be able to start withdrawing funds even while still employed, according to Johnson Financial Group.

Roth IRA Considerations: For Roth IRAs, if you're at least 59.5 and have held the account for at least five years, distributions of investment earnings become both tax-free and penalty-free. You can always withdraw your contributions from a Roth IRA at any age, as they were already taxed.

I don't care how well behaved they are. They still piss and shit where they're not supposed to. And, it's not just about them. People have allergies. People have phobias. Therefore, dogs should not be where they're not explicitly allowed because the expectation is that they won't.

They DEFINITELY should not be in places that serve food.

I celebrate with the President's Own Band any time I read a story about an establishment dropping the hammer on some idiot with a "service dog."
