Anybody else cringe when teams throw the ball towards #8

Dec 2, 2013, 11:47 AM

It pains me to see him get abused by RB's/Wr's. He is a big target out there for opposing OC's.Really wish we had alexander in there the other night.

Also, I may be in the minority here but for the most part I thought our game plan was pretty good throughout the game. There were some questionable decisions on offense and stopping the QB draw was obviously a problem but we tried different things schematically that caused them some problems. When it comes down to it, you absolutely can not turn the ball over that many times and win a game. To turn it over 6 times and only lose by 2 scores on the road says a lot.

Sarcasm?

He was abused Saturday night. They went after him time and time again.

#8 was abused

I can't agree more and posted a reply about the same thing.

I know our secondary has been depleted at times this year, and not having Blanks in this game hurt, but it's inexcusable for Robinson to give up so many big plays. Most of the time he was turned around and never had his eyes on the ball to make a play. Not to mention that huge pass interference play he pulled the receiver down but they were still almost able to hold onto the ball.

I can't wait for M. Alexander to come in next year and give us that shutdown corner we so desperately need. I'm excited about Kearse upside as well and a few others, but it was obvious, especially in the FSU game, that we need more size and speed in our secondary.

And yet, Shaw was just 14/26 for 152 yards...

So, again, why are we complaining about Robinson giving up a couple of big plays? We actually played the pass pretty well. Defense was not the problem, people.

doesnt seem to have a problem staying with receivers

Dec 2, 2013, 12:01 PM

for the most part

but seems to have awful technique when the ball arrives..the first pass interference call was awful he never even attempted to get his head around and basically just tried to tackle the receiver..what a waste of good coverage..if ur there locate the ball

the second pass interference call was dumb imo..i didnt see anything wrong with what he did..he located the ball..the qb threw a jump ball and they both were competing for the ball in mid air..i didnt see any holding or pushing on his part that would warrent a pi call

the first time they tested him deep early in the game he had the guy covered stride for stride but the ball was overthrown so it didnt matter

corner is probably one of the hardest positions to play and you are on an island so every mistake is exposed and magnified..i really dont think hes that bad i think hes an above average corner who needs to locate the ball better

and honestly we really have no idea what we ll get from alexander since he hasnt played yet so we ll see..cant assume he ll be great based off of the star rating system

You essentially said the kid is athletic but he just sucks at corner. He has no coverage ability what so ever.

I was nice to see Kearse do well for a true Freshman in that environment.

coverage ability

Dec 2, 2013, 12:24 PM

= the ability to stay with a receiver so that would mean he has coverage ability

ball skills and coverage ability are not the same thing

corners are usually corners and not receivers because they lack ball skills and cant catch for crap..but good corners can at least locate the ball and knock it away

since he has atleast half of what it takes to be a good corner if he improved his ball skills hed be good..at no point did i insinuate that he completely sucks at corner

Yep! Upgrade next year***
