This is good, I was talking about this a few weeks ago. Although, it was a pipe dream where we hired Theo Epstein. But, this is what we need. And, I think all major programs are going to hire a guy like this. Basically, he is the new GM for Clemson sports, but mostly football. His office will deal with the kids, or their representation to hammer out the dollar figures. I am glad we will not have the coaches negotiating these deals. They are football coaches, not suits. Well, maybe Dabo could with his insurance background, but still having a dedicated guy to handle this is the way to go.

Negotiating rev share and NIL deals by 110 Society is not in the wheelhouse of Clemson Ventures.

It sounds like it's going to work for the betterment of our athletes. Also if I read it to mean what I think it means, it means that Clemson just won't be sharing ticket sales money with our athletes, but it will also have shares of everything that earns money under the Clemson sports name. Is that what they're saying, or did I read more into it than what was there?

Separate entities. Ventures is sales & marketing responsible. It will overlap with the media rights. For example, expect to see content creation and Clemson+ streaming service to be expanded. This just puts professional oversight on corporate sponsorships so expect to see logos on the field soon.
My new revenue suggestion: resurrect Edgars at Doug Kingsmore including the bowling lanes. Coach Bakich has spoken about a bar & grill addition. Where? Yank out the batting cages and in-field practice turf. Bakich and players just need to pick up their bats and attack the golf team. An easy invasion of the golf practice facility for new cages and turf. 🙂

You could sell tickets just to that turf battle. Could be more competitive than you think - golf balls have quite a range.

I would love to see something done to improve our Play by Play and media offerings. I know there are existing arrangements but ACCN and The Roar are pretty weak offerings.

Media rights and broadcasters are controlled and operated 100% bu the network. The school hires the network not the broadcasters like Munson. Munson doesn’t work for Clemson.

I doubt very seriously that he could help us into the Big bc the Big has some sort of medical school requirements that all of their member schools has to have and I don't think that our nursing school program can fulfill those medical school requirements. Please don't quote me on my belief bc I may not have a clue of what I'm talking about. Not word for word, but I think that I'm repeating pretty close to what I read on here before about the requirements for the Big!!!
I think to enter the SEC, an 8th grade education will do, or may be it's the 9th grade

This could be the guy that finally brings us 100 million dollars over the next 10 years if we agree for 7 Saturdays a year to sit in Charter Spectrum Stadium at Whataburger Field located in Clemson, SC

That will be the day that IPTAY dies on the vine for even lifelong IPTAY members. Just another way for them to show their appreciations for the IPTAY members that has helped to build Clemson sports from the ground up to hand it over to the rich only!!! The Clemson IPTAY members that their money actually paid for DV to the point that it's at now will be kicked to the side in the ditch!!!

It's far from it, education and amateurism wouldn't fit into anything they're talking about right now, and it's the farthest thing from it!!! The day will come in the not-so-distant future that universities around the country will rid themselves of anything that resembles college sports and get back to doing what they were constructed to do, and that's to further the education of HS graduates that graduated with high grade scores, and it will no longer be such a thing of lowering entry level scores to allow the athletic types in!!! Honestly, I will personally applaud them when that happens!!!

Is it just me or do we tend to lead the pack in innovation?
“I am grateful to the Clemson Ventures Board for the opportunity to lead this first-of-its-kind organization,” said Drake. “I was immediately drawn to the position here at Clemson in its comprehensive approach to a professional model of fully integrated revenue generation. Clemson is one of the preeminent brands in college athletics and its commitment to innovating the business model will have long-term benefits for fans, student-athletes and the broader institution. I can’t wait to get to work with the Clemson Ventures team and our incredible partners to bring this vision to life.”
Clemson does a great job looking forward.

I'll say it ...
I hate this hire. Look over his bio. What's one substantial thing he's done to innovate anything? Besides "leading a bunch of people" and "managing a big budget" what single accomplishment has he made that created a significant competitive advantage with any organization he's been with?
CUAD has a culture problem within the non-teams side that I fear will surface in the coming years after its impacts are irreversible.
Call me a negative Nancy, but this feels like we're grasping at straws.
