Does an offer list still mean what it used to?

Oct 13, 2022, 5:35 PM

You used to be able to sort of judge a recruit’s talent by the offer list they had. Looking at some of the kids mentioned today and the schools that have offered them. This new Fano kid has offers from schools like Oregon, but you look at Oregon and they have offered 50 OL, we have offered 16. They have offered 37 WRs and 14 QBs.

I’m not knocking Fano, he’s rated higher than Owens, just the way some of these schools hand out offers like they’re candy. As Dabo has mentioned several time he wants an offer to mean something, I wonder if the recruits and their parents feel this way. It might sound great to say you got an offer from Bama, or UGA, etc, but so have 100 other guys.

FSU had more numbers on their check (offer) to play for them than we did. Dabo has a higher standard, let team decide who is the best fit. Unlike Georgia, if you haven't been arrested, they won't look at you. Miami, if you're not a thug you won't be recruited.

Recruits are just high school kids until they prove they are good enough to play at a college. Sadly many never prove it and wind up in the portal.

I know it was a different time, but when I was being recruited to play tennis

I couldn’t care less how many offers a school was handing out, or how many offers another recruit had. I was looking out for number one… as was every other recruit.
