the ACC conference going forward. The ACC is brain dead and being kept alive by a life support machine called ESPN. And, it's clear THEY even want to pull the plug and have the conference die.

Looking back, if ESPN could take back creation of The Longhorn Network, and The ACC Network, they would do it in a heartbeat. They were trying to mimic the NBC success with Notre Dame in the Longhorn Network. They were trying to duplicate their OWN success with the SEC Network by creating the ACC Network. But, the product on the field, in neither case, lived up to anywhere near hopes or expectations. Anyone who has even watched the ACC Network knows that ESPN never really put any first class effort into it anyway. They delayed it for so long, before finally launching it under duress, it was clear they didn't want it.

The one thing that DOESN'T wash out of this whole scenario is the SEC's seeming indifference to the whole thing. They can carp all they want about not needing or wanting Clemson or FSU in their league. The undeniable fact, for anyone who watches college football, is that FSU and Clemson are major brands. And, the TV viewing numbers back that up. The BIG seems to realize this, even if the SEC does not. If the GOR can be broken, the BIG would extend FSU and Clemson invites today. Now, there are even rumblings of third party financiers getting involved, who may infuse enough coin to pay the way out regardless. Very, very strange and unsettling times ahead for college football. Dabo may well have been Nostrildammdus when he said, "Just wait until NEXT week".

see that puts us, Clemson, in greater control of our own destiny and bridges the revenue gap, maybe not completely, but much closer.

These 8 vote to disband the ACC altogether with an agreement in place prior to form a new league together - The Big Atlantic.

Other ACC programs could be invited in to participate alongside with a separate football division, and thus separate media payouts.

West VA would be a natural add to the top division, and a media deal involving those programs would far outpace the Big XII. The Big XII's problem today and going forward is that they have no Alpha programs leading the national charge. The ACC has 3 of those in us, FSU, and Miami, even if they don't always play like it.

Oklahoma State? Baylor? Colorado? Not the same national sizzle up top. That's a problem for media ROI.

After expanding up top with West VA, we then expand on the bottom with a UConn, Temple, Memphis, or Navy even, to even the divisions out and add new markets overall.

This fits Dabo's concept of the football powers simply having their own league together, while also tying in and keeping geographic harmony with all other sports.

Notre Dame should stay Independent in football IMO. It's cool having a team play a national schedule like they do, even though the B1G is kind of heading in that direction with 4 time zones in play now.
