has anything to do with the assinine 9 game schedule thing the acc CAME UP WITH. Leave it to Swoff to solve a problem that wasnt there instead of addressing real issues

Hard to manage a schedule with 10 games set in stone.
For the UVAs and VTs of the world its more manageable.

until the terms of the latest ACC/ESPN television contract became known. That's not to say that Clemson wasn't conducting its due diligence (they were), but the contract that Swofford negotiated that places schools like Clemson, FSU and Georgia Tech at a distinct financial disadvantage compared to other in-state schools, was the proverbial last straw.

If the ACC had come back with a deal comparable to the SEC or Big XII... we may have sucked it up and made a commitment...
However, I do think many things before the contract has caused TDP, BOT, etc... to begin looking and weighing options. The Big XII option presented itself early, and as the possible scenarios begin coming together... it looked better and better.

Before you accuse me of joking consider this. Many of our games were tier two and not tier one because of who we played. Even ranked in the top 10 and undefeated our opponents dragged us down to tier 2. Do you think ESPiN and the network didn't see this coming. That is why they don't give the ACC a better contract. We just ain't worth it.
Clemson lost some 'in the seat,' fans and their money too!

it should be an 8 game schedule.
Basketball has been ruling the roost in the ACC and the football schools are using this as leverage to gain concessions going forward - a counterbalance to over-inflated influence of Coach K and the basketball schools.

The schools have the ability to do that. The conference can get tv exposure and $ which we hope helps elevate it but otherwise the ball is in the schools court.

The individual schools have to get better. They have to do their parts. Miami and FSU have national name recognition and some of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country. No reason they can't be top 15-20 year in and year out with much of that time spent in the top 5 or 10.
Clemson, Va Tech and UNC and possibly NC State(great coach) can be consistent top 20 teams. UNC's football potential is greatly underestimated by a lot of Clemson fans.
Miami, FSU, Va Tech, Clemson, UNC, NC State are all returning to form. It's just a matter of time.

I don't see any evidence that the football schools have ANY leverage over the basketball schools in this conference. All recent evidence proves otherwise (School additions, ESPN contract, 9 game schedule).
