Do you all think Charlie Strong would do well

Nov 20, 2016, 10:52 AM

at LSU. I really like that guy. Where would he be a good fit???

GT perhaps.***

Strong is a great coach with integrity. He has proven he can win while at Louisville, but walked into a snake pit at Texas. In my opinion LSU would be similar to Texas, not giving him a chance or time to rebuild the program and expecting immediate results. Strong needs to go to a program where he can change the philosophy and mindset similar to what Dabo has done over 8 years here at Clemson.

GT, or Baylor even would be nice fits

Perhaps texas ans l'ville should swap head coaches

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If I was the GaTech AD I'd fire Paul Johnson

Nov 20, 2016, 11:17 AM

After this weekend and hire Charlie Strong.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think he would do well at Texas

Nov 20, 2016, 11:31 AM

If given another year.

My guess is whomever gets the job next year will do quite well with table he has set.

I just don't see Strong as a good fit at LSU. GT does sound good. Don't know if he would be willing to go somewhere that doesn't seem truly committed to football, per PJ himself. I'm really surprised it didn't work out for him at Texas. I really thought he'd be competing for championships in 2-3 years. He'll move on and find somewhere that works for him.

Charlie won't go to LSU.
Talk at work among the Florida State fans is they want him as defensive coordinator, but only if
Fisher stays.
LSU could make a move for Dumbo, however if Orgeron is fired.
Charlie might good at Ga.Tech, which has been mentioned in another post.
At least there we wouldn't have to worry any more about the triple option.

I am curious to see what Oregon does***

Cincinnati

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No but he'd be a great fit got Georgia Tech IMO....

Nov 20, 2016, 11:41 AM

although it would take him four of five recruiting cycles to undo all of PJ's damage.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

whoever and whenever replaces Paul Johnson

Nov 20, 2016, 11:47 AM

It will be a mess with player personnel the first 2 years at least.

Would not want to see him as a Coot*

Strong started from ground zero. He had to dismiss so many bad apples from the program. The next coach will benefit from his efforts.Ga Tech would be a great fit he could easily lock down ATL in recruiting.

I think Strong is a good coach and a great guy

Nov 20, 2016, 11:59 AM

But I really don't understand the people who are villifying Texas for wanting him gone. 16-21 over 3 years at the university of Texas just isn't good enough no matter who you are

after Texas mishap, Charlie Strong is not in line for

he'll get his next shot at an Iowa State/Wake Forest-type program.

certainly not LSU or any other SEC.

Nov 20, 2016, 1:26 PM

DC gig at a good P5 school next year until he lands another HC job. He's not going to get hired somewhere like LSU though. He's going to have to take at least some kind of step down first. Middle tier P5 job or an upper tier DC job are probably both on the table for Strong.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agree, I think someone hires him as a DC, if he wants it. He
