I am not a huge fan but this trade is historic. I don’t understand how these guys get traded when they are hurt constantly or needing load management rest. These two guys are getting over a million dollars per game they play it’s unreal. I doubt this Luka for Davis trade goes well for either but definitely not for both.

Do they still trade players in the NBA; what's the point?

The players have all the power. For like 2 decades now all they've done is sign one year contracts and go wherever the hale they want from year to year. So how long does a team get a player they trade for, the rest of the season?

Luca Doncic is the best player I have ever seen. He scored 73 points in one game last year.

Apparently they don't have all of the power, because this trade just happened.

I have no doubt Luka had some kind of no trade clause and is only going to LA

Because that’s where he wants to be.

Luka and AD were both not aware of the trade until it happened. The Mavericks organization reached out to the Lakers first to make this deal. Luka was in the middle of a multi year contract when this happened.

What on earth were the Mavs thinking?!?

One of the dumbest trades in NBA history.

I think this trade gives them a better chance to win it all in the next year or 2 but certainly not a good trade long term. They must be tired of Luka not playing and being out of shape. Too bad AD is always hurt too lol.

They are thinking he is more Shaq than Kobe

Kobe did everything obsessively he could to be the best and was willing to do whatever was necessary. Shaq was just happy to be there and always came into camp out of shape, etc

For a supermax deal next year - they probably want more dedication. He is oft hurt (yes, Davis is as well ). And they don’t think he will change his ways. LeBron gone very soon and LA wants a star and they’ll deal with having another “Shaq” for a while and try their luck to build around.

Possibly that they couldn't sign him long term. I think his contract runs thru next year. Iwas surprised as you were.

Maybe not. Time will tell. Dallas is supposedly tired of Doncic being out of shape and not being able to play D. Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a 1st round draft pick is pretty solid. I am a Lakers fan and I am not living the trade. Could be great? Who knows?

Yea not sure how the Lakers are gonna compete down low now. Lebron and Luka is a nice combo but I believe this move is more for when Lebron is gone.

Exactly what I think it is. They have their dude for when Lebron retires.
