Didn't realize until today that Sam Hartman didn't get drafted, but did get

picked up by Washington as a Free Agent.
That's one portal transfer that had a negative effect on the player. And, skipping the bowl game to "prepare for the draft" didn't work in this case.
Says he wished he had another year of eligibility to showcase his talents. Yet, turned down the chance by sitting out of the bowl game.
Hindsight IS 20/20.

Wishing he had another year is because he'd make more in college than a NFL Free agent. Gonna see a lot more players staying in college as long as they can unless they are 1-2nd round draftees. Otherwise might as well live for free and make similar money.

Likely happen when they form a Union and as long as they take one class a semester they will be eligible.

he will as a free agent in the NFL. While transferring didn't rocket him up the draft board, it made him money he otherwise wouldn't have right now.

Yes we all hate anything cootish, but we can't take away Rattlers ability play FB as a D-1 QB bc he is a really good college QB...

His biggest issues are maturity. He went to my daughter's high school so I watched him a lot growing up and was an absolute trainwreck as a person. I do think he has grown up some but I don't see anyone handing him the keys to a franchise. We'll see...

So I find none of that surprising. I could tell by his ghetto tattoos, hairstyle, and body language. Glad he didn’t get drafted. Kinda hope he falls flat on his face. He was not that talented. Was a decent to good player on a worthless team in college.

I was under the impression he signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Hallmark Channel. I suspect the next time we see him he'll own a Christmas tree lot or be an unnoticed wine savant working in a recently inherited vineyard.

The Hallmark channel are rather genius. One movie will end, and another will start, and 30 minutes into it you will suddenly realize it's a different movie and a different cast. Or is it?
At least that it is what I have been told. I have no direct knowledge of if this is true or not. Just what I have heard.

How did it have a negative effect on him? He wasn't getting drafted out of Wake either. He's not "traitsy" enough. He transferred to ND and made a lot more money than he would have out of Wake and ended up in the exact spot he would have been anyway. Sounds like it was a net positive.
