The real problem with our education system

Taxes and inflation make it necessary for parents in working class families to hold down 2 jobs each to make ends meet

They don’t have time to take an active interest in their children’s’ education or for doing the hard work of raising a child

They are forced to delegate it to latch key programs, TikTok, and woke public school teachers

This whole debate about the DOE and federal funding of education is a total joke. It’s all wasted money and until good American jobs come back to the US and a working class family can survive with one parent working one full time job and one parent working one part time job, our kids are going to be poorly raised and poorly educated

So you liberals can talk about all the money till your blue in the #### face, but until we change the game in this country and create an economy where parents can actually be parents it’s never going to change.

And that is exactly what democrat leadership wants. A failed working class stuck in a dependence on federal government subsidies that keep them trapped in a vicious cycle to be repeated generation after generation

And you think if only the DOE had more time and money our kids would be well educated?

I disagree with the assertion that education is failing because parents are too tired to take an interest in their kid's education because they have to both work because of taxes and inflation.

Your inability to string together logical thought and poor reading comprehension may actually be your most damning argument against the education system in this thread and you don't realize it.

politicizing the teaching of kids. Just leave all the liberals this, liberals that, woke teacher BS behind if you really want to participate. It’s not like red states are the shining example of what education should be.

When you say taxes and inflation are culprits in keeping parents from raising their kids, what you mean is cost of living. Do you really think the cadre of billionaires currently running the country are going to have an effect on that? Because they don’t give a crap about you, me, or kids on school.

If the government wants to do away with the DOE, fine. Haven’t heard one word about any plans to follow that up. There gonna be any federal oversight or funding? Even if it’s at the state level, you think MAGAs are going to be willing to sit down at a table with people they hate and create a workable solution?

So cut the crap about red vs blue and accept the fact that for education in the US to improve, it will require some federal participation and earnest people working together in their own states and communities to do it. Bitching about woke is the antithesis of this.

I certainly know some teachers that are democrats/liberal, but I don't have the sense that it's any higher than the population at large. Anecdotally, my wife was a teacher prior to having kids and none of her teacher friends, that I know of, were liberal...in fact, quite the opposite.

81 has this figured out. Parents are worked too hard so that's somehow education's fault so this is what he proposes:

-Cut funding to schools.
-Raise state taxes.
-Increase inflation.
-Demand one of the parents stay home.

He's got this!

In the last 24 years, there have been 12 years of Pub and 12 years of Dem administrations. Yet all of societal and economic ills are due to Dems. Go back 44 years, it is 24 to 20 Pub presidents over Dem presidents.

Any Main Street, working class issues can be attributed to both parties. Also research the Greatest Generation and have some perspective of hardship.

...the school systems are messed up because

1) most boards are run by lefties which has manifested itself into the school and social culture that gets us to where we are
- lack of discipline
- kids could care less if they get maximum discipline
- kid are told their problems are because of someone else
- kids are prevented from failing and move on no matter how little they know because failing hurts their self-esteem
- social engineering by school boards
- thrusts like "math is racist" take hold
- lack of parental involvement

2) the lefties cannot even discuss the problem because they can't recognize the source of the problem and attempting to recognize and discuss the problem results in a bunch of yelling and whining like they are five years old.

Wouldn't you guess in terms of the number of students under a board, that there are more students under democrat boards than republican boards?

In terms of sheer numbers of boards, the fact that ginormous swaths of land not densely populated are likely republican boards, I'd guess the sheer number of boards would say more are pub.

However, the number of students is what drives the stats, so that is the one that matters more in this context.

So, I retract my statement that "more" boards are run by lefties and would replace it with "more students are under lefty boards."

I should ask google...

Here is what ChatGPT says:

School board compositions often reflect the political leanings of the areas they govern. In large urban areas such as Los Angeles, New York City, and Chicago, where Democratic voting patterns dominate, school boards are more likely to have Democratic majorities or at least lean progressive in policy decisions. These districts serve millions of students combined, meaning a significant percentage of the nation’s public school students are under Democratic-majority boards.

In contrast, rural and suburban school boards are more likely to reflect the conservative-leaning political climate of those areas, resulting in Republican-majority or right-leaning boards. These districts typically serve fewer students per district compared to large urban centers, but they collectively govern a large portion of the country’s public school systems.

If we were to estimate the student population under each type of board:

Democratic-majority boards likely govern the largest school districts (NYC, LAUSD, Chicago, etc.), meaning they oversee millions of students.
Republican-majority boards would be more spread out across numerous smaller districts, especially in rural states, serving fewer students per district but covering a vast number of districts.
So, while more school boards might be Republican-leaning due to the sheer number of rural districts, the majority of students in the U.S. might still be under Democratic-majority boards due to population density in large cities.
