Did we give Bama's QB Coker any credit for a fine game..

Against our beloved Tigers? Saying, the guy played his heart out & threw some pretty dang good passes, some under duress or off balance.
Still can't get over just how bad our D Backs played at times on such an important night for Clemson football..busting coverage time after time, especially after Mack went out & not guarding his island.

The one that still bothers me is the prayer he completed against Tankersley when he was throwing off of his back foot with a Tiger DL in his face . I believe it was also a 3rd and long too , which hurt doubly bad.

In last 10 minutes when the game was even & Tigers just didn't Gut eR Done.
Was Bama just too much having 67 Under Armour All-Americans to just our 8 in the end, and their being able to sub more fresh players?

No, just a few broken plays

Our players outplayed Alabama, almost to a man. The trick kickoff, and three passes to the TE were the difference.

I'd argue that all of that is able to be overlooked... but the kickoff runback for touchdown was what really did it.

It really comes down to execution and a coach that has won 5 championships. Saban's teams just don't make those huge mistakes in championship games. We turned the ball over 1 time. They turned it over zero. They obviously did their homework on that onsides kick and executed it to perfection. Then we give up a kick return. They didn't make any special teams mistakes. We will learn and grow from this and hopefully become a championship machine ourselves.

Yeah that one was crazy. Boulware was all up in his face and he just threw the ball up and prayed. Well his prayer was answered as he hit his receiver perfectly on the sideline. That pass would be incomplete 99 out of 100 times most likely. Lucky play for sure that led to points. I think it was like 3rd and 15 or something close to that.

I also think he single-handedly clinched the win for them on a play in the red zone at the end of the game where he avoided a sack on third down and scrambled for the first. It kept the drive going, ran the clock, and allowed Henry to punch it in a few plays later.
If they had had to kick a FG on that drive and Watson got the ball back with time and a chance to win it, I think he does.

Yes, BillyBob, that was over three months ago. We gave him credit. You can sleep well.

I felt like Coker only made one real tough pass all game. Most of them were just wide open throws; especially to O.J. Howard. He seemed to get open almost the entire second half. He did what he needed to do, and I guess that's all that matters for them. A lot of busted coverages really just killed us.
Still proud of my Tigers! They showed they deserved to be there, but it just didn't work out in our favor that night. Hopefully we will get another chance at the natty this year.

he just happened to win the lottery there in the biggest game of the year. We had the momentum at that point too...
