Did ISU burn their RB’s redshirt year?

In the first quarter, the announcers said that ISU put in a RB that was redshirting. Did I hear that wrong?

Why? I know the kid wanted to play but to hold out all year and play limited only to get to a middle bowl and waste a whole year?

I thought a Player could play 4 Games and still Redshirt ?

The announcers said he had already played in 4 games and this was his 5th.
