time I checked. Nothing I have read or heard would lead me to believe that's going to change anytime soon.
FSU isn't going anywhere either. They are broke and can't afford the buyout.

they'll work something out on the $20m. And you haven't read anything to make you think we're leaving? The most telling thing in this whole saga that makes me think guys like The Dude are hitting the nail on the head is the fact the FSU BOT chair shot off his mouth about the ACC contract. You just don't do that if you're planning to stay in a conference. That's not playing nice. That tells me something is definitely afoot.

of those dollars are earmarked, others are to be used at the discretion of the administration.
i'm sure the ad/powers that be could make a very good case to repay that $20mil through a number of ways.
if it makes good business sense, i'm sure they'll find a way.

What makes anyone think we're leaving? What has the BOT or the President said that leads anyone to think we are? People are on here talking about what they are going to miss about the ACC like it's a done deal.

the writing is on the wall! Hell, Stevie Wonder can see it! I don't see the b12 staying at 10 teams, the acc is clearly on the wrong side of the table, FSU is unhappy, if they leave CU is screwed! CU has history and is the attendance leader of the ACc for the past many years. I'm not positive it will happen but if moves are made CU better be leading the charge! IMHO. I would almost bet that talks have begun now if they weren't in progress. Does it not surprise you that the Champion bowl was not leaked for over 2 months? (according to the SEC/B12).

I still can't understand why so many ACC Presidents went along w/ Swofford to increase the penalty for leaving conference to $20 mil. Other than say Duke and Wake - AND Barker. With Barker it was the same kind of genius at work as when increasing Bowden's buyout & then having to pay it out within a calendar year. Plus he has that arrogant elitism of a UNC man. I rather think he fancies himself one. But why did FSU, VT & Miami go along with it? Of Course Donna Shalala is Pres. of Miami, so that explains a lot. Another one cut from the Barker bolt of cloth.

Fsu, Maryland and Clemson refused to vote it that high. The ACC wanted a unanimous vote to convince Pitt, Syracuse, ND and others that the ACC was united. The 3 holdouts negotiatef it down to 20 million in order to get the unanimous vote. The otjer 9 coyld have passed it at 30 million, but opted to take the lower figure in return for a unanimous vote. Barker actually saved us milliins by voting for the 20 mil.

Thanks for the info. Hadn't seen those details. Certainly could have been worse then. Still can't believe such a major thing could have been proposed and voted on by presidents w/o BOTs having a say.
