Did Dabo honestly believe Stoudt was better than Watson

Nov 7, 2014, 8:34 PM

To start the season? I just feel like the defense was wasted for this year. I now fully understand why Chad Kelly was so mad

That is something that I said from the first time DW played. Could our coaches not see the differance in talent? I'm afraid that favoritism to seniors comes before winning. I will love my Tigers to no end but Dabo and Chad missed the boat on this one.

It's crazy isn't it? Can you believe Dabo wouldn't let Swag act like a prima donna, yelling at coaches, etc. Gosh it was Soooo obvious after the spring game that Cole was an All America and that Dabo should be grateful just to be in Kelly's presence. Fire Dabo!!!

I think it had more to do with Watson getting hurt honestly.

If he doesn't get hurt, I think he probably starts from game one.

Dabo never said that Stoudt was "better" than DW. Those are your words. What Dabo did say was that "Stoudt gave us the best chance to win" at the start of the season. There are a lot of things that entered into this decision other than just "raw talent" which I agree DW is more talented than Stoudt. This subject has been beaten to death on TNet with very few posters giving any thought to where DW was in his development, knowledge of the system, and ability to make checkoffs on plays called from the sideline, at the start of the season. In my view, offense was not the reason we lost the opening game to Georgia. In the FSU game, we played very well but came up short and DW really came on in that game and was made the starter for the following week. DW is an outstanding talent and we are going to see some great football play by him for the next 2 1/4 years.

Ummm...

Nothing wrong with being careful with the most talented 18 yr old qb you've ever had. It would be easy to crush his confidence and entire game if you put him in the pressure cooker before he's ready.
I completely understand why they didn't want to go too fast with him. You figure you know
more about handling kids than Dabo and Morris?

I can't believe people like you do ever listen to what he

Nov 7, 2014, 9:36 PM

Said? Coach Swinney said before the season started that Watson was the most talented freshman he'd ever coached!Watson also got hurt in the spring and didn't start to pick things up until the end of fall camp. Everyone players, coaches, formers, and guest at pracTice all have said Cole outplayed Watson in fall camp.

As for kelly there is no excuse for his actions.

No but you don't just throw a 5th year senior away like that

Nov 7, 2014, 9:55 PM

for a freshman before he even gets a chance. That would have a ton of potential to divide tv locker room and cause a ton of animosity between both coaches and between the players.
