Delusional Coots

Jan 10, 2018, 5:04 PM

I joined a FB group, Cocky Talk vs Tiger Talk, to see what fun could be had with our feathered minions. Man, they are bonkers.

Every post they have is:
Alabama beat Clemson, losing it's final game,
USC beat Michigan, winning it's final game,
Therefore, USC is a winner and Clemson is a loser. USC is better. End of story.

The obvious rebuttal has been:
We made the playoffs - again,
We won our division,
We won our conference,
We won 12 games,
USC won 9 games,
We've won 4 in a row against you,
The Outback Bowl was irrelevant,
We're favored to return to the playoffs next year

And it's: "la la la la. Not listening. loooooser. looooser!"

I had to click on a few profiles to make sure I wasn't arguing with teenagers. Nope. Adults

Smart move bc most of their adults don't have a greater mentality past a 6 year old!!!

Years ago, I heard (though I don't know if he really said it) that Little Lou Holtz said that the most frustrating thing about being the coot coach was how satisfied they were with mediocrity. "We only lost to (insert ranked team here) by a touchdown" or "We didn't win the conference but we were in the Top 25 for one week" were the norm, and it really bothered him. He knew they'd never be consistent winners because they were happy just being "okay."

The comments you are referring to are normal for them, and that's why they are losers, will always be losers, and will never be us. Winning a meaningless bowl suits them fine, as long as it gives them five minutes of "bragging" rights. They are not big-picture people - in their world winning one so-so bowl game means more to them than a playoff run that unfortunately ended early for us. They don't get it.

Stay away from those people - they are really bad for you.

Fan attitude reflects history , current status of team A .
Holtz saying he knew they would never be great had nothing to do with the fans or even the admins attitudes ..it had to do with his recruiting , coaching and player development .

Just ask them, if given a choice for next year, would they choose to:

-Beat us
-Win the SEC
-Lose in the 1st round of the CFP
-Finish the season ranked in the top 4

Or would they choose to:

-Lose to us again
-Lose 4 games overall
-Not make the SEC Championship game
-Finish the season unranked
-Win whatever bowl game they make.

I was in that group and got out of it. The gamecock fans in that group don't have enough sense to pour #### out of a boot.

I enjoy hearing coots say USuC is a better school than Clemson.

How many days of missed brain medicine does it take to believe that?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

the first mistake was joining a group with the word cocky

Jan 10, 2018, 9:25 PM

In it.

The second was arguing with a coot on the internet. I wouldn't recommend it.
