Del Jones

I will say, many players enter the portal only to return. So, who knows.
A lot us were excited about the possibilities with Del Jones. I watched plenty of his HS tape before he arrived and knew he'd be impact player, if not more.
There were different reasons O-Max and Jones didn't get the minutes they needed or wanted but man, this feels like O-Max part two. I really think Del Jones is going to make plenty of noise at the collegiate level wherever he plays.
It does beg the question as we may head into some lean years, are short term, win now transfers worth the sacrifice of young player development? Does a coach even have a choice while tyring to keep up. Today's society has less patience with all the instant gratification.
All that said, I was always surprised he picked Clemson and ultimately ended up here as he's NOT a typical Brownell player. Brad has never gone after these types. Did anyone else get that sense as well? That's not to say he couldn't have developed here. I mean, he most likely would have.
Wish we could keep him, but these types of things will be more frequent in this current climate of "college" basketball.

Bring along young kids for someone else. However, with Brads lousy idea of rebounding . .maybe the kids will finally learn something once they leave.

It happens. Maxime Raynaud from Stanford did.

So, one? Not “many”. I’d say it’s very rare statistically for a player to enter the portal and change their mind and stay with their old school.

Wasn’t even really mad about Wiggins. Or Thomas. Del leaving gives me some concern at guard depth though for sure
I’m sure we’ll get some come in

I think he's got a great chance to be really good. He avg about 11.5 minutes a game. That's not bad for a freshman. Do you think jz might be back and del thought he'd be limited again? Idk but it's odd. It's probably going to be jz and Dillon. Hate to lose him though.

It was less about playing time and more about system fit. Del likes the freedom to play 1v1 and create offensively. Brad demands guys play in his system and only gives guys he trusts immensely that kind of freedom (ex. Chase).

I assume we wanted to keep Jones and he was part of the plan for next year.
I could be completely wrong especially if Zachary gets an extra year.
It's easier than ever to show players the door if you don't want to keep them.
You can now not only tell them they won't be playing much, you can also reduce or completely cut their pay.
