David Hood, what do you

think of the fact that the BIG is seemingly on the verge of inviting Stanford and Cal in addition to Oregon and Washington? This seems to have caught people by surprise. Also, the FSU crowd on the message boards seem to be peeved that Clemson is staying silent rather than supporting them and uniting.
My questions if you have the opportunity.
1. How surprised are you that it appears the BIG is only looing at the four out west, including Stanford and Cal?
2. Do you think Clemson is making a mistake by not chiming in with FSU?
3. Is our administration so quiet because we have no landing spot?
Thanks! I think you are the only credible person I can think of with any kind of source in Clemson.

Don't saber rattle. They stay quiet and execute the plan. FSU's display yesterday was all strategic. They're just trying to cause ripples. They know there's no easy or cheap way out of the GOR which is why they have not mentioned any plans. Because there is no plan. Clemson is quiet because there's no reason to be loud right now. It accomplishes nothing.

GOR will definitely not what would keep them from taking action.
"When I say we have a handle on the Grant of Rights, we understand the document very well,” Collins said. “We understand our position on that document, we understand the legal argument in that document, we understand who the parties would be under that document, and we believe we have a very good handle on what our risks are under that document. And what our opportunities are under that document.
“That’s the least of my worries based on what we know. … We understand it. We have gotten a lot of counsel on that document. That will not be the document that keeps us from taking action. And I’ll leave it at that.”
You're right, it won't be easy or cheap, but sounds like they have a way.

Again it's strategic. They want the rest of the conference to think they have a way out and panic. They want the B1G and SEC to think they have a way out and go to war.
If they had a way out what reason would there have been to put on a such a display?

He was certainly spot on when he told us last week? Maybe early this week that his sources said look west.

You cant just add 2 Cali teams and expect them to fly clear across the continent each and every week. They need a western pod.

6 teams gives you a true Western Pod. 4 isnt really enough. Thats only 3 games per team in your region. The rest youre flying across the country for.

If there is a total of 6 teams in the western 'pod', then that limits the cross continental to only 2 per year.
Currently BIG plays 9 conference games. The 12 total games could break out: - The 6 western pod always play each other = 5 games (alternating 2 home, 3 away. next year, flips to 3 h, 2 a). - 4 more games from cross continent = 2 home, 2 away. - 3 out of conference games to fill out the home schedule/revenue as needed (be it 1, 2, or 3 home games).
Makes very logical sense to keep the regional rivalries and interest while lowering travel costs.

Or maybe they are quiet because they already know how it's going to shake out.

....about the AZ board meeting tonight? AZ is a state where one board of regents oversees all three universities (AZ, AZ ST and Northern AZ). Speculation is they will vote to apply for membership to Big 12. Have you heard anything?

The same people that came up with LIV golf is going to buy the ACC, if they offer $800 million to a washed up golfer, the sky is the limit, the ACC will have the last laugh.

I have to think Fox/NBC/CBS will be clear about Cal and Stanford. They bring nothing for their local affiliates in the SE. These stations need Saturday football content for their viewers. Now the Big10 presidents might get all high and mighty about academics but the current schools aren’t going to take a revenue cut to get to 20 teams. Maybe they hold at 18 for several years and wait to see how schools like Clemson decide how to deal with the GoR.

Screw the FSU crowd and what they think. Clemson should only be looking out for Clemson.
