If you continue to watch the App. St Tight end he does again on another play too. Wasn’t watching him all game but that left for someone to review the tape. But he’s a dirty player that for sure. It’s no room in football for that type of player no matter who you root for. Dirt is Dirt. Play fair and respectful.

That is one of those things that takes being a good sport out of the game, and it's that kind of play that can cause a bench clearing brawl in the middle of the field. That guy waited for the perfect time before diving down at Woods feet so that it would have been impossible for Wood's to jump over him. Oh yes he has had plenty of practice getting that chop block move to where he puts the player on the ground every time he does it. For me I would be hoping that he was still on the team next year so I could show him how to really take a knee or knees out for the rest of next season. A firmly believe that the safety rules were put in place for a good reason, that dude doesn't have any respect for the rules, and I would want to be the one that changed his attitude about purposely trying to end another players career!!!

No not really. Mafah flagged for blocking from the side. This was straight on.
Not sure if that should have been a penalty or not. They didn't say on TV but several calls were missed. That wasn't a fumble either.

You’re correct re. Antonio’s phantom fumble.
#0’s elbow (the one on the arm that was holding the ball) hit the turf. Only THEN did the ball come loose.
The ground can’t cause a fumble, right?

Hold on, didn’t they say just last week in the UGA game that if the “chop” is “straight on” its legal?
Was I the only one that heard this?
If you want to blame anyone it’s Dumbo for putting him at end. If I was PW, I’d tell Dabo I’m moving back inside…..you’re not ruining my long-term future.

It wasn't a chop block. Woods wasn't engaged with another player. It was a legal cut block.

It’s legal as long as the DL is not engaged with another blocker… It’s a crappy rule & we can thank Fartface Paul Johnson for that & all his complaining

Yes it is. The rule is if you hit a player low from the side then it's a penalty. But in this case the player hit him straight on so it was not a penalty.

Unfortunately this was not the case nor was it a "true" chop block.

The chop block involves being involved with another player as well as high and it is illegal. I believe cut blocks are all illegal except for a RB. I still call it a chop clock because its almost the same GT triple option BS which was a way for an inferior player could take down a bigger guy and possibly ruin his career

A chop block that late after the snap is much worse than some of those phony targeting calls they make when the player that was supposed to be targeted barely realized there was helmet to helmet contact bc they continue playing like nothing had happened, and then a chop block the player almost always needs help getting off the field!!!

Away from the play??? Seems like payback for #72's frustration earlier. If I were coaching this team #87 would NOT have finished the game. The game would have finished him.

Unfortunately, the new rule allows for this as long as it’s straight on at the knees and not beyond the line of scrimmage. Mafah went a little to the side of the legs, is why it was called on him last week.

This is correct. Much more dangerous than a lot of what is illegal. Makes no sense by the rule, it was a “clean” hit.

Dabo said we will know more tomorrow, now today. Typically to me that's scans and to rule out any tendons and to see if meniscus tear. If you've ever popped a meniscus it takes a few hours but swelling is awful. So I'm hopeful it's just a bruised knee and nothing more. I would assume we will have him a brace next 10+ days if he practices.

In American football, a chop block is an illegal block that is different from a cut block, which is legal in certain situations: Chop block An offensive player attempts to block a defensive player while another offensive player is already engaged with the defender. This is considered illegal and penalized with a loss of 15 yards because it can injure the defender. Cut block An offensive player blocks a defensive player by targeting the player's knees. This is legal when the defender is not already engaged with another player. However, some consider this block to be "dirty". The NFL and Fall Experimental Football League have banned the chop block, but the cut block is still legal in the NFL. In the NCAA, cut blocking is allowed as long as the block is away from the ball's original position.

I'm surprised we didn't have a lot more injured. He was not the only chop block bast***! Everytime they did a running play away from the tight end side, he'd pull and go for the center or guard. GT all over again. Those clowns were too stupid to see it. What can you expect from a bunch of ######### who can'tell which helmet has fingers going through the facemask?-not to mention being backed up in Charlotte. Those guys were probably drinking beer and channel surfing. AND...the NCAA needs to change what is reviewable. The facemask was non reviewable...however they could have conferred and Charlotte could have buzzed down. It AIN'T rocket science. The fumble was but I guess Dabo wanted the clock to run. This is the only game I remember where I had the feeling he let the players down. Obviously none of those events would have altered the outcome even the slightest but thinking your coach was not focused on the team on the field is not a good look for mama and daddy. I HOPE I was the only one who felt that way

Dabo used a timeout to review the Peter Nearn fumble recovery / non-recovery call. He wanted a deep-bench guy have his moment of glory. That was a great look for the parents.
Why he didn’t risk wasting a T/O for the A.Williams bad call / non-fumble situation is a mystery to me. A ‘spin take’ on this would be to use a meaningless fumble situation as a ball security teaching example during film review this week.
