Dabo Swinney's picture is featured and Nick Saban is also mentioned among the "crazy" candidates for LSU after the Bayou Bengals fired Brian Kelly on Sunday:
"Again, big swings. Swinney is amid his worst season as Clemson's head coach since 2010. Could Woodward follow his Texas A&M playbook and lure a national champion to Baton Rouge? Swinney is a proven program builder and would seem to fit in at LSU culturally in a way Kelly never managed to. If Swinney wants a fresh start, you could pick much worse places than Baton Rouge to do so. But like Fisher, you must wonder if Swinney would be a sexy enough hire at this point in his career."

Everyone one of those "corndog" programs is going to CRUSH Clemson in revenue for the next several decades - barring a complete upheaval of the current CFB landscape and revenue dynamics. Right now, Clemson football is auditioning to be part of the SEC and/or the B1G. As of right now, we're failing that audition terribly.

Not if he refuses to adapt to the new way of college football. Like it or not, this is the landscape we find ourselves in. Dabo going into a recruits house and promising the mother that he will raise a good Christian young man no longer gets the job done

Agree with your subject title on being too honest. Disagree being lateral. If this was 2019, then yeah I would have agreed with you. But the slow decline after Trevor left would be concerning.
I'd say kiffin, perhaps Cristobal, or even doing what Bama did to them with Saban except try to poach deboer away from Bama. Don't think they'd go back to the ND well for Freeman. Maybe cignetti or vandy coach.

Lateral in terms of salary, which is all that matters. Dabo actually makes more than Brian Kelly, so it’s a small step down

I wouldn't define Swinney as a "program builder". It implies the program was down when he took it over. Tommy Bowden was fired (resigned) because Clemson underperformed every year. Shoot, the media even had a name for it. We all know the "ing" word. Clemson wasn't short on talent when Dabo took over. What he did was take us to the next level. The "build" already had a very stable foundation. It even had walls and a roof so to speak. What Dabo did was finish and expand. All that said, LSU is in a similar state. They dont need to be built, they need to finish and expand. I dont think Dabo would be a good fit at a place that needed a program built from nothing.

I think you contradicted yourself there. You make a point that Dabo didn’t build Clemson - he finished the build. You then said LSU was in the same situation and just needs to be finished. All while trying to make the point Dabo wouldn’t be the guy for LSU. So if he “finished” building CU, why would he not be the guy to “finish” building LSU?
Did I misinterpret something here? What am I not understanding?

Like where our Tigers are now? Actually, our Tigers are not at the bottom -- UNCheat and BC have that spot covered this year.
Clemson will likely lose a lot of players to graduation, the NFL, and the portal, after this seaon, so next year we may be more competitive with UNCheat and BC.
Maybe we could still be the best of the worst...

Dabo would destroy his legacy leaving Clemson for an even bigger paycheck at a win-at-all-costs SEC school. Let alone the idea that, as much as I am a huge Dabo supporter, his effectiveness in the new environment is still very much in question.
Nothing g surprises me in the current college football world…but that seems like a stretch.

Dabo is currently in the midst of destroying his legacy while here at Clemson, and doing a pretty good job of it I might add. Another two or three years and he’ll just about finish the job.

the Saban part is laughable beyond belief. At least Dabo is still in coaching, so while super unlikely, at least they are talking about a guy who's still interested in coaching. Clearly Saban isn't or he wouldn't have retired. that's just for clicks. IT's not even worthy as a mention under the "crazy" header.
