It's not really, depending on how you define meaningful game. The ACC is absolute trash, so winning the ACC title isn't very meaningful. I would say meaningful right now is winning a playoff game or a win against a team that finishes in the top 5 or so. We're struggling on the recruiting trail and keep missing out on our top targets, which used to never happen, and it's going to get worse with NIL. We don't take in transfers to fill talent gaps we have. We promote unqualified yes-men to be fill out our coaching staff. Soon, schools will likely be able to pay players outright, and then we'll be completely done, because we're locked into the ACC which doesn't give us enough money to compete compared to the top conferences.
Do you disagree with any of those statements? If so, explain.
It's just a sign of the times. I was never sure how elite of a coach Dabo was. I mean, we had one of the two best living defensive coordinators recruiting for us and playcalling (and he was elite at reading playcalls and adjusting on the fly). We had the two best quarterbacks Clemson's ever had. And because there was no NIL, our coaches were able to promote our culture.
Dabo has not shown he can compete in the new college football world (I have no clue why we gave him tenure effectively after a terrible season). We don't have those strengths any more. Our primary recruiting tool is done. You say the kids who choose money over Clemson have the wrong priorities, but look at yourself. If you were considering two jobs, and one job, the boss says "we're a family here," and in the other, the boss says "We'll pay you double what the other job is paying you," which one are you going to choose?
I've been saying this year was the last legitimate chance to win a big game, and if it didn't happen, we'd be done as a nationally contending program, because I believe Clemson is too small to compete with $$$$, and Dabo is too hard-headed and stuck in his way to adjust. I haven't been disproven yet.

But he will have to change his way of thinking if he wants to continue to be considered elite. He won two national championships. But the world of college football has changed more since 2018 (4 years) than in the previous 25 years. He is going to have to use the transfer portal. Every one else is and Dabos stubborn refusal to use it is hurting the program that is making him a millionaire. He has to hire coaches. Yes hiring from within is sometimes the best call but not for every single hire. The offense Chad Morris brought here has gotten stale and we needed fresh blood....but Dabo refused to bring us fresh blood. That's why defenses know how to stop us. We're using the same trick we've used for 8 years. Time for a change. But Dabo will not make any changes because he is ok beating up on crappy ACC teams and choking when playing real teams. He used to not be like that.

You’re gonna be called a coot or whatever but I believe you’re right. Recruiting is off and hires were off. The way this is being handled expect transfers this off season. Dabo is loosing his team as we speak

There is zero leadership from Dabo on this team. The fact that he hired yes men that would not be coordinators on any other P5 team at freaking Clemson is a joke. I saw called it all year, this team is soft as any I have ever seen. It doesn’t belong in the top 10 more or less the top 5. Soft, not coached well and not very talented, and ALL of this is on Dabo.

Well, we had a great run for 4 or 5 years, which is about all most schools can expect before the inevitable drop off comes. Bama and OSU are exceptions, not the rule. We do have the advantage of playing in the ACC, which we still should be able sleepwalk through, but are days in the top 5 are over unless Dabo makes some big changes.
