Dabo Got A Gift To Continue Status Quo Thanks to Syracuse

After the Coot loss, it was clear something big had to change with the program. Then Syracuse does Clemson a solid with takin out Miami giving Clemson a gift to the ACCCG.
If SMU thumps Clemson, then Dabo will have to make some major changes to keep his job (unless he decides to step down which is doubtful).
What if Clemson wins? I don't really care if we get a coveted first round bye or have to go play somewhere. The next question is what if Clemson messes around and wins one game in the tournament?
If Clemson makes it to the CFP and doesn't shat the floor Dabo's going to be in position to say "I told you so" and continue with his business as usual.

This isn't 2007. Under the Tommy Bowden years we frequently lost games we were favorite to win and should have won. Bowden always fell short and we're see that same trend occur.
In a weak ACC and a 12 team CFP we should never have to back-door our way in the ACCCG.
Friend, SMU just ran through the ACC like crap through a goose and they had to give up shared revenue for I think 5 years just to get into the league.
Yeah...I have expectations

Same as it was when Dabo was tabbed HC win Championships. Dabo proved with elite coaching staff and top knotch recruiting Championships are attainable as was witnessed in 2016 and 2018. To maintain excellence you can not compromise those key areas. Changes are always a constant and I say if Dabo accomplished Championships before he can accomplish Championships again with experienced coaching staff in all positions and top knotch players sprinkled in the mix.

After the regular season is over, the goal is to make the playoffs. And here we are with the chance to do it.
This at this point the losses don't mean much.

Cuse didn’t do us a solid. They actually hurt us in the long run. We were gifted another chance rather than earning it. Now Dabo can mask his shortcomings with the conference championship appearance while the unintelligent fans stay engaged. Downward trend continues.

Next years team should be really good as long as everyone returns. After that Clemson will become irrelevant if changes aren't made. Poor recruiting and failure to use the portal will lead to no depth at all. Ego and Pride are 2 bad traits to have.

If he wins the ACC, then wins a playoff I would say maybe we are wrong. We ain’t beating SMU with this playbook so I think we still have a lot to worry about

Clemson earned the championship game.

We have the W/L record needed. Miami lost 2 conference games; were both "gifts" to Clemson? Syracuse lost 3 conference games; were those "gifts" to Clemson? Of course not, they are just losses. ZERO shame in the way we got into this championship game. None.
If SMU thumps Clemson, then Dabo will have to make some major changes to keep his job (unless he decides to step down which is doubtful).
That's downright comical.
Yes, this season has been maddening at times, and I would welcome some strategic changes. However, this has been an insane year in college football. Clemson is not alone with head-scratching inconsistency. Georgia, Texas, Alabama, Miami, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and others have suffered the same malady and laid some eggs. Guys, this isn't a beauty contest, it's a war, made up of a series of battles. You have to keep fighting; no shame in that. There can only be one winner; no shame in not making it to those final battles either.
I realize Dabo and his staff are paid EXTREMELY well, and at some point we need to see a return on that investment. I have no problem with that; high expectations are good, and warranted. I remember a time when Clemson football was very different, and winning a national championship was a fantasy, and required some supernatural intervention, so maybe that makes me a little more patient. I know some people just don't like Dabo; he's a sunshine pumper who meddles in the offense and hires friends and family instead of proven winners and he won't use the portal and he's stubborn and arrogant and can't adapt to change and so on. For me, I see that he's won 2 National Championships, with 6 top 5 finishes . I realize we have dropped off over the last few years, but Dabo has more than proven himself, and has earned my trust as a football coach.
I see the drop off like everybody else, and I want a return to elite status too. I'm just not giving up on Dabo yet, and I'm not going to dog his character or personality every chance I get either.

Clemson won 7 ACC games, Miami won 6. If we had locked up the title game last week, this type of thinking would be non-existent. However, because it came down to the last day and Miami failed to secure a spot and match Clemson's win total, it was Miami who failed and Clemson who triumphed. There's no backdoor here everyone. You either win or you don't.
Now, if we somehow win the ACC and win a game in the playoff, that proves something is working. If we don't win the national title, then someone did it better.
If we lose to SMU, then we need to make some serious changes because we would have been 1-4 in our competitive games this year.
But winning the ACC and a playoff game (which I doubt will happen), means we went 3-4 against good teams.

Would you had rather see Clemson beat the coots and have Miami beat Syracuse thus missing out on the ACCCG and hope for an at-large bid or are you happy losing to the coots in a shameless way and limp into the ACCCG with serious concerns?

I love that this intensely negative outtake is based on winning the ACC championship and finishing the season, minimally, as a top 8 team in the country - and that would represent a status quo you are opposed to.

I do get your point, but I'm not going to hope we lose just so Dabo will make changes. I think he now understands the game has changed to the point that relying on what has worked in the past is not going to be good enough moving forward.
Right now he is focused on the post-season but when that is over, however it plays out, he will do his post-season analysis and I think he will make some necessary changes in several areas, including NIL and portal.
