Really pretty common $ amount. Consider a softball pitcher got $1.2m at Texas Tech. A school with virtually no history of softball success.

a player gets an NIL deal, and then still leaves? What happens then? Is the NIL deal in any way contingent on them staying w/ the program? Obviously that's the goal, but since strictly speaking, the deal is for the use of their name, image, and likeness (and ostensibly not strictly for "labor" or employment status) I didn't know if the deal also contained some obligation on the part of the other party (or the collective) in the event the player leaves.

And to be clear, I'm not asking if they are free to leave (I know they are), I am asking if the deal is still obligatory on the other end if the player does leave. Or, is the money gone once the deal is inked (regardless of whether the player leaves or not)?

The way i've heard it explained from people that claim to be friends with an athlete is that they are paid monthly or bi-weekly and once they transfer the payments stop just like your salary would stop once you quit.

Ah, ok. That makes sense. Is there usually really some sort of "use" of the players name or likeness for some sort of advertising or commerce? Or is it usually really just payment for their being there, and nothing else?
