Coots had a long delay tonight-past 9 before they started and still

packed the stadium. I don't get why our fans are such weak sauce and many folded and went home this afternoon and never returned to the stadium after the thunderstorm.

It wasn’t the thunderstorm that sent them home…

well, most of them come out of the slums around the stadium. Better accommodations than their homes. Why leave?

I feel that some of the die hard fans have hit their tipping point and wanted to send a message. The emotion did not happen over night but has been a slow, building frustration. Dabo, Neff, and Babb need to all three be very careful right now and develop some sincere appreciation for the ones that pay the bills.
Dabo needs to not coach speak but, acknowledge the problems and fix them. Babb needs to put someone in charge that understands great customer service and can deliver it. Neff needs to bake sure that Dabo does his job. Who does Babb report to? Does he have accountability to anyone?

This is how I feel. Dabo ran me off with his bs comments blasting fans.
I get what he did and accomplished, but coming at the fans and reporters saying “pick a stat and run with whatever way you want”
Is absolutely crazy talk. Dabo needs to be humbled. I feel like he retired 4 years ago.

their fans have stuck with their teams all these years, even during the long draught under Holtz.
Close friends of mine sent a photo from the game, showing nearly a full house, late, still waiting for the game to start. So many of their fans live in the metro area that most don't have a long drive home, so if at the stadium, why not stay unless you're losing in a big way.
Tell you what else I've noticed over the years: given their history, more and more Carolina folks I know, although optimistic each year, have become more circumspect about their prospects with the typical rejoinder being, "We want to see the onfield results first, before getting our hopes up too high." Not a bad way of thinking IMO.

There really wasnt a rain forecast for Clemson until the night

No one came prepared. It then rained, lightning alert prior to the kick off. They knew the storm was coming but started the game anyway. Then 1.5 hour lighting delay and everyone got dumped on that hadn’t made it to their car/wasn’t under the stands. The radar showed the same thing was going to happen around 6 after the game restarted. The broadcast was feeding info that it would probably be a 7:00-8:00 restart and were shocked when they sprung the 5:20 restart. By that time, folks were soaked and done. It was a good crowd at game time - better than expected. It was the home opener for the Coots, and the delay was prior to kickoff and wasn’t a surprise for them for what had been forecasted.

They made everyone leave the stadium after 1 series each . Coots simply had a start delay , it’s not rocket science .

I left and didn’t come back. First delay we just sat because by the time you file out 30 mins is up. 10 mins into that they announced another. I’ve been there before when this happened and you couldn’t even see clouds or rain. Yesterday at the 2nd delay black clouds were coming across Hartwell. Reasoned this would be extended. So we left. Not wanting a 2nd weekend of getting home at 230 am. So yes I’m probably a weak fan these days. Seeing the lack of coaching, talent or give a crap on the field definitely contributes to my approach. As someone else on here said “it’s been building”. At least with me.

I was there too. To the end. And I am old and slow, somehow managed to not get wet, stood under the stands on concrete for the long delay, and made the hour and a half drive home by 10:30. Will be back in two weeks and stay to the end again.

I’m going to admit that we took the easy way out. We had tailgated since about 10:30 and packed up our tailgate getting ready to go into the stadium about 2:30 when the first heavy shower came. We looked at the weather radar and decided get in the truck and to go home and watch it there instead of walking to the stadium and wait for an almost certain lightning delay. Mostly because it looked like thunderstorms with lightning. The way they do lightning delays is ridiculous. To say you cannot have a lightning strike within 8 miles for at least 30 minutes sets you up for long or multiple delays when the radar looked like it did yesterday at game time. We left Jervey Meadows at 2:30 and were home by 3:00. Had time to dry off and get the food back out before kickoff. Then watched other games during the delay. Leaving wasn’t my first choice but I’m with 3 other people, on of which is my wife, and sometimes you gotta go with the majority.

Clemson fans, myself included, have gotten spoiled by success. Problem is now being good isn’t good enough we have to be great and win championships or it doesn’t matter. This leads to a bit of apathy imo.
Also getting to Clemson is a huge pain in the butt. Many people are driving long distances not just living in the trailer park a mile from the stadium…

It wasn't the weather. It was loud indictment on the team's performance. Swinney will be dumb to realize, but he is in a dangerous situation. If he continues his path, and attendance drops it's over. We have budgeted tons based on expected fan support. The swell of folks being sick of his rambling is growing.

Umm it was 7-0 with 10 min left in the first when the lightning

delay hit. Had the fans left after a lightning delay when it was 16-0 and almost halftime then you might have an argument but it wasn’t the reason people left when they did. It was the fact it had already poured twice, 2 separate lightning incidents with separate storms and a series of storms stacking up headed that way like planes stacking up to land at JFK. The sentiment was that the game wasn’t going to restart until 7 at the earliest, possibly later. Luckily the storms lost their electrical punch and they gambled on restarting just before 5:30

I thought this is how the weather usually works. It may appear there are storms lined up one after another but once one rolls through it usually cools the temp off and works the atmosphere over to the point the next showers coming over don't have the fuel to become as severe. The initial one (or line to come through) is usually the worst.
