The coaches are so confident in Peter Woods as a freshmen. When was the last time you remember the staff having unanimous confidence in a true freshman? Sammy Watkins?

Tyler Davis was way more dominant than they expected as a freshman.

That is who came to mind too. He’s the most recent to start as a freshman defender

Honestly, Adam Randall. That is the only thing that gives me pause. I know there was an injury. Having said that, I am hoping for both big things from both of them this year.

Excellent post. It seems like every year the Tigers have a new kid who has a chance to be great immediately. I think Woods is the guy this year but I also believe there are perhaps two more true freshmen who will be very good right out of the box. August football is going to be special at Tigertown. We are very fortunate to have tnet to keep us informed every day on our rise back to the top. I’m still very, very high on the new OC. He was really special last season and to get him into ACC football was a real home run.

Truth, but the coaches played it tight lipped with the whole QB competition with KB2 coachspeak. With Sammy and Dex, they pretty much flat out told us these guys were starting game 1.

Exactly - the staff almost downplayed TL16s abilities as a FR. KB2 was clearly feeling the pressure in the spring. But the staff didn’t really pump up TL.

I mean, FWIW you don't know what you have until the bullets start flying.
TL really could've just been not ready in the spring and really came on in the fall. I remember the spring game and thought TL definitely had the arm talent but wasn't sure what he'd look like running the RPO and guessed that KB was probably the better of the two in that category.
TL shined and sputtered against A&M so it was probably the right call for him not to be the starter out the gate but, there was no question TL was a different breed. Any other time KB is probably a respectable QB that might even be a top 10 Clemson all-time QB caliber dude.

CJ Spiller. You can't keep that kind of speed off the field.
Even as second team behind Davis he rushed for nearly 1,000 yds

To this day, I don't think there are many folks who have a highlight reel that can match up to CJs.
If he would've been invited to the Heisman ceremony as a SR, it would've shamed the other invitees.

He was ready, but Kelly Bryant had earned his opportunity that lasted 4 games.
Good calls on Big Dex, Anthony Simmons.
