Conference Landing Spot

No way Clemson goes public with this lawsuit w/o already knowing it has a new Conference Landing spot.
The ESPN relationship is a big deal and has been seriously tainted. This is why we are hearing that FSU, Clemson, and soon to be others working to leave the ACC will NOT be going to the SEC.
Despite all the emotions about rivals, geography, etc. (which are fair), anyone w/ have a business mind and an ability to read the “tea leaves” c an see we are heading to the B1G at some point. Even David Hood reference all future B1G venues and not 1 SEC.
This will help you out as to why the B1G.
- Clemson’s proactive push for UAA membership w/ adding Vet School - B1G Compatible Olympic Sports additions (SEC is NOT nearly as committed to a broad Olympic Sports portfolio - No regional redundancy for B1G in Fla or SC since SEC already has USC and Fla - Toxic relationship w/ ESPN which SEC contract is owned - Statistically better opportunity for post season in B1G by a long shot - B1G academically WAY mor compatible for Clemson’s current and future aspirations - $$$ - Obviously, Geo distances no longer a priority with adds of Stanford, SMU, & Cal
Watch how my predictions will materialize over the next 6 - 12 months
There are more minor indicators but those are enough for these purposes of helping T-Net fans with where this is obviously going

I’d be fine with that. I’d also be fine with the SEC.

The Big 10 would be OK for football and basketball. Baseball and softball would really suffer. If they took enough teams and made a Big 10 south it might work.

On the other hand, I think we could dominate the B1G in baseball and softball. Could end up being a blessing...

The majority of Big 10 opponents coming to DV with very few exceptions would be as big a yawn as the majority of ACC opponents. The newness would wear off quickly. You aren't going to get Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State every year.

There are so many teams and you only get 4 conference home games…or maybe 5 with a 9 game schedule.
Sec has its own set of yawners, even if there are perhaps less of them than the Big.
I really don’t like where things are headed (with just 2 conferences)…but I really only care about Clemson’s success and think the conference narrative stuff that we’ve been in for so long due to the ‘sec! sec!’ mentality of the media is a waste of time.

Clemson has never stated that it was looking to leave the ACC in the suit, they're only saying that if they were to choose to leave, they didn't believe that the ACC should own any of their rights. They are saying that they want their right to choose without the ACC penalizing them if that's what they decide to do before 2036. Or that's the way I read the pleadings of the suit...

stand when ESPN makes a decision on extending the media deal. It also makes ESPN think about that media deal and maybe not extending which pressures the ACC. It also puts unequal sharing on the table as a bargaining chip for staying put longer. But he main thing it does is let us know where we stand for the mass football breakaway that is going to occur and that is a bigger deal than SEC, B1G conference as football is going to be separate

I think that if Clemson went to the Big10, they would be matched up with the west coast teams each year, that way fewer original Big10 teams have to make the trips each year.

I’m not so sure it’s the B1G. I bet in the end it will be SEC, but who knows at this point. It’s all speculation!
Go Tigers beat New Mexico State!

If Clemson wins the suit and has a viable exit strategy, both conferences will offer. The SEC does not want the B1G in the south and the B1G want to add the south. Clemson, FSU, and UNC wil be hot commodities.

For a multitude of reasons, I pray we wind up in the SEC. I don't see why we should play a bunch of yankees every Saturday, when our roots and history are here in the South.

I hve been spouting the same for a while. The Big 10 is where we need to be, much more comaptible academically, and to what Clemson goals appear to be. Makes great sense for them to get a foothold in the South.

There are reasons their fans want to occasionally come to some schools in the south. They want to escape for a few days. Why would Clemson fans ever want to make most of their trips up north. Ugh!

How do you know Clemson and FSU aren’t working secretly with ESPN to blow up the weakening ACC and give ESPN a reason to renegotiate a much lower payout for the remaining schools while sliding the big boys into the prime time conference with higher revenues?

It's just as likely we've been told there is interest but that can't go any further until we resolve our GOR issues and are ready to leave. Anyone who thinks they have it all figured out is not one to take seriously.

For those who haven’t noticed, the historic geographic common sense has already been abandoned with the additions of Stanford, Cal, and SMU.
Also, Clemson leaders aren’t complete morons…if given a binary choice, why would they jump back into bed with ESPN after they got screwed with this insane GOR?!?!
There will be more ACC schools that will come with us too.
I think that eventually, Football will operate separately from Olympic Sports and they will somehow reconfigure how those teams compete under a more reasonable geographic footprint to avoid Cost/distance.
