Concerned about LSU

Clemson traditionally does poorly in opening games. LSU, since Brian Kelly has been there, also does poorly in opening games. But still i wish they could push this game back to like the third game of the year. Open with Furman and maybe play a lower tier ACC team on the road then come home to LSU.

Good gawd it’s gonna be hot!!!!! I don’t enjoy games like that. We sit in the North upper deck and it gets so hot up there.

I just got a sneaky feeling that it will be a night game,so it will just be really humid and have a sticky feeling to it...York County Tater,my seats are also in the North Upper(Sec.TDS) and I too will be coming from York like always...We might run into each other on I-85,not literally though or at least I hope like the heck not LOL

Nope! Noon kick off. Count on it.

If ot were at LSU's Dearh Valley, definitely would be a night game. But SEC privilege and it's and SEC team on the road, it will be a noon kickoff. Maybe 3:30 if we're lucky. When was the last time we played the SEC at night?

Ours are in TDR. My dad bought them in 1982 when the North deck was built. He already had seats in the lower deck and bought these as extras. I’ve been using them since I got married years ago. We sit 4 rows up and they’re such good seats I’ve never tried to change them. The sun will kill you over there though!

Actually - sounds like he means the top deck but called it upper. I thought no Clemson fan could possibly make such a mistake.

The main positive for us is that it's their first game as well and they'll have a ton of guys playing their first meaningful minutes for LSU, while we return most of our team. There's a good argument to be made LSU will be at their worst right out of the gate.

We haven’t been great in home games of late. Inexplicable losses to the dirt peckers among the worst. But I think we are in for a pleasant surprise. Welcome back Clemson defense.

Agreed we are coming off and 0-3 record against SEC teams last year . Our defensive backs scare me because they struggled last year , Avion Terrell was an automatic pass interference on every play and Nussmeyer is a good one .

I disagree with the OP when he / she / they / them / it / all / ya’ll said, Clemson traditionally does poorly and opening games.

Clemson has an all-time record of 95-26-8 in season-opening games. This includes a 12-4 mark under head coach Dabo Swinney. Clemson has also won 99 of their 124 home openers, with a 99-17-8 all-time record in that category.

Even Dabos greatest teams always seem to start out not in synch offensively. And maybe that’s every team, but it’s hard to argue that the offensive gameplan against UGA last year looked as if they had come up with a gameplan on the bus ride down there and not all offseason.

Still remember sitting in Jordan-Hare stadium letting a very average Auburn team hang around in 2016 and 2013. Troy hanging around for 56 minutes. The UGA game in 2015 may have been the best opener as far as the offense hitting on all cylinders. Fortunately, BV’s defense always started out in midseason form while he was here.

I think the OP is talking about opening games against good teams.

We were not ready for Georgia last year. That was bad. But I do think we will be ready for LSU this year.

It was a mismatch of talent and experience, coupled with poor coaching on D. It was a mismatch talent wise, especially that early in the season.

It was never supposed to easy. I definitely think it's very winnable and one we can lose. Coin toss Nothing to be worried about though. Clemson will have have great talent and coaching. I can't wait.

Well there’s lots of concern for them as well

I think Clemson is totally and completely at an advantage in multiple ways

Obviously being in the real Death Valley

Also, our team is just absolutely loaded and is on paper one of the favorites to win the national championship

I don’t want to speak on Kyren Lacey. His loss is impactful. As far as I go. Rest in peace bud.

But regardless, we’ve had some good openers under Dabo. Big wins like Georgia 2013, Auburn 2012/2016 (Both away from home)

The others have been kind of close, relatively.

You’re still shell shocked from the blow out last year against Georgia.

Looking forward to it. LSU will be starting a new OL; our D should

be much improved; and our O will probably be better than it's been in a while. I'm not ready to say that we're loaded, as I see some holes in our line up - TE, S, P, DE depth, DT depth come to mind. Special Teams will be a concern unless they have revamped every facet.

BUT - our team is the best it's been in a while. Should be fun!

Go Tigers!

Clemson does traditionally start off slow. But I think we are lucky in being at home to start, we just are not real good on the road, including neutral sites. With the game being at Death Valley and a good seasoned veteran team with really good leadership, will payoff this year.
Clemson will win by 7.
Go Tigers!!
