Complaining is not good for your health

in fact, a Stanford study shows it actually shrinks the hippocampus, the part of your brain involved in new memories, learning, and emotions. Complaining also triggers a release of cortisol. “All the extra cortisol released by frequent complaining impairs your immune system and makes you more susceptible to high cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease and obesity. It even makes the brain more vulnerable to strokes.” says Dr Travis Bradberry. He goes on to compare it to smoking, in that being around complainers negativity impacts the health of those who have to endure it, through a phenomenon known as neuronal mirroring.

With that said, I will have to ask you to reconsider complaining on this site. I know this will be hard for your shriveled hippocampus to understand, but your right to complain stops where my right to be healthy starts. I’m not saying you can’t complain, but you’ll need to do it in your own home, car, or break area outside of the building near the picnic table that gets your pants dirty if you sit on it.

Thank you.

Then the Cracker Barrel shut down their smoking section because of the health risks it posed to others. I fully expect the same thing to happen here.

That’s what the smokers said too. Unfortunately, their right to smoke stopped where my right to be healthy started. Exact same thing here. It’s science.

Opioid use in 2024 has largely taken the place of the 1945 smokers per a recent study by Prairie View A@M.

They say WW2 was won with tobacco (Churchill, Stalin, FDR), perhaps with the appropriate amount of opiod use we can win a meaningful game in 2025, or at least think we did

Re: Complaining is not good for your health

Dec 26, 2024, 9:08 PM

I think many people see complaining as a way to cope

When people seriously complain on this site about things, they are able to communicate actual feelings and feel less isolated because other people agree with them.

Gaining self awareness also is a valuable tool. Think about what’s happening inside your head and pay attention to what you think.

Lots of people aren’t even able to tell what thoughts are negative, because negativity pervades over time.

Learning to not take things seriously, even complaining in itself, comes from self awareness. You learn letting these things control you only makes your life worse.

Equating smoking in public vs. complaining in a public forum? And your health risks with smokers vs. complainers? And shutting public restaurants from smokers vs. ridding Tnet of complaints? You got some nerve lady. Take your nonsense elsewhere.
