1st inning not going for double play turned out to be huge mistake.
Fielding ball hit towards 1st base, and no one covered 1st base. Looked sloppy, but that did not cost them like 1st inning.

Celebrating the fact that they kicked our Tigers butts twice, doesn't make them cocky. Fact is the Coastal baseball program is far superior to ours. I hope they win it all. Keep it away from SEC and some great players from this state get a natty.

agree, we would have been run ruled last nite. we have no pitching even close to what Coastal has. Coastal held a very good LSU team to a single run, you can say what you want about the injuries we had, but even the injured ones that came back didnt look the part. Coastal has multiple starters throwing 96,97, we dont have one. Until we recruit and get some true, big time pitching we are not going to be any better than what we are now. sad reality!!

They lost 1-0. I think criticism would be appropriate if they lost 4-0 almost entirely due to errors, but they only gave up 1 run.

You contention is CC’s lost the game because they were unable to play a perfect, mistake free game? They lost 1-0 to one of the best teams/pitchers in college baseball. Playing a perfect game is unrealistic so sometimes you just have to tip your hat and regroup for the next game.

I’m not sure that they could have turned the double. The lead runner was very close to second by the time SS fielded the ball.

Base running as well. The runner on second base got a terrible lead and jump on the bunt attempt and was thrown out.
Runner going to first ran into the tag on a bad throw when he could of slid under it.
In close games at this stage everything matters.
Your never going to play perfect. The ultimate thing that cost them was lack of hitting with runners on base. They are gritty, I think they rebound and make it to game 3.

Look, mistakes did not cost Coastal anything because LSU is a good team with a great, future millionaire on the mound. The game was a pitchers dual for the ages and you have to give credit to the winning team.

1-0 was a great game. Not getting that lead runner was a killer but I guess he was not feeling he could make that play. Been a tough loss for either team with those pitching performance. Some of these other teams aces makes ours look very average. Guess the reasoning why we have not won one yet. Cannot remember many shut down pitchers. Holding great teams to 1 run or pitching a complete game shut out is next level.
