The age old question. You can learn a lot about a person based on whether they use captions when watching television.

YES! Because I can read a book or have a conversation...and still check on the television program. Don't have to talk over the noise or listen to commercials.

These 6-8 minute commercial breaks are becoming the norm.

(Didn't cable television come about so people could pay for programming and NOT have to listen to commercials?)

Yes - on anything other than sporting events (CC blocks part of the view - normally part of the scoreboard). And as mentioned especially on anything British!
