Clemson,Alabama Sugar Bowl projection:If Clemson wins out?

Nov 11, 2012, 9:38 PM

My personal opinion is Clemson is not ready defensively for Alabama. Clemson has a young defense and is at least one year away to having a complete defense. That being said, as a Clemson fan we welcome the challenge, but i am getting tired of everyone in the scheduling propping up the SEC through the regular season with easy schedules until they play a more potent oposition. Either way it would be a good gauge to see where Clemson needs to grow.

TAMU isn't great defensively

They didn't completely shut them down, but the did enough for their offense to put them ahead. That's why I think Clemson would match up well with Bama.

Btw, FSU's defense is #1 overall, and Alabama's is #2. Think Bama would do better against our offense at a neutral site than FSU did at home?

Also, FSU's offense is #11 in the country. I believe Bama is barely in the top 50. Would Bama put up over 600 yards on our defense?

(ATM's defense allows about 7 yds/game less than Clemson's, but they have allowed the same number of TDs. I'm not completely sure, but I believe Clemson has faced more top 50 offenses.)

I would think the Tiger fans would be encouraged watching Texas A&M beet Alabama. You could argue (and I would argue) that Clemson is a better version of Texas A$M.

Exactly, and we ain't scared. Bring it on, spot the ball. No better way to see where we are than the best the sec has to offer. And that alone says a lot to where we have grown as a team in the past couple of years. It has been a very long time since Clemson could play in a bowl game with the likes of the Bama's. Win or lose, all of college FB will see that Clemson is coming after that crystal FB once again. And the pieces are almost put in place.
