Clemson vs. Louisville prediction:

If you look at our first two games, we're averaging 45 points a game. You may be thinking "Wait - that was against Wofford and App State; this is Louisville and they have better athletes and their defense will be tougher", and you'd be right. And if we played vanilla bean offense and only played DW and our first string O for basically only two quarters (like we did against those two), there's no way we put up 40+ on Lewisville. But that will not be the case as we'll open up the playbook as much as needed, and DW and first teamers will play the entire game if that's what it takes to put a whuppin' on The Cardinals.
I know Louie Ville has some guys that will play in or get a shot in the NFL, but they still aren't on the same level as us across the board. Bobby Petrino has been a head coach in the NFL, and is no slouch, but neither is Dabo, and I'd put our staff, top to bottom against almost anybody's. How has all of that played out so far on the field? Louisville looked decent against what turns out to be an over rated Auburn team, and not very good against unranked Houston. On the other hand Clemson has looked at least as good as expected, and actually better than most thought.
We rely on an awful lot of young, inexperienced players, and this will be their first game in a hostile environment, and I expect that will impact things. I also imagine our problems in the kicking game could very well result in points for Looeyville. But keep in mind, we are actually averaging about 21 points per quarter with DW in the game. Even if they are twice as good on defense as our previous opponents, we should still be capable of putting up close to 40. I'm still convinced we have a very, very good defense as well, and while they may get points off of turnovers or poor kick coverage, I can't see them putting up more than 21-24 points on us at best. Plus, we are decidedly better than Auburn, and we have DW.
Prediction: Clemson 34, Louisville 17.
Note: We are probably capable of scoring more, but will grind out the clock in the fourth with a lead.

Yes, before the season I was worried we might lose this one

but Louis has shown more holes than I expected.
BUT, Louis is playing for their season Thur night. If they win, everything they hoped for is still on the table. Lose, and their playing for a return trip to the Belk bowl. There will be an early onslaught that we must withstand.
There will be opportunities for big plays, and we must make them.
I'm curious who their QB will be. Their offense changes a lot depending on that.

Our Center has issues

Snapping the ball. Didn't look so bad at the game but re watching it today it seemed he rarely got it in DW's hands. The rest of the O - line has trouble both with pass protection and making holes for the RBs. Add that we have serious special teams issues both kicking and covering kicks we are going to have our hands full. Clemson does not generally fair well on Thursday nights while Louisville loves Thursday night games, especially at Papa Johns. So this is going to be a difficult game for us to win. That being said, Louisville doesn't look so good either, so I'm saying Clemson 20 Louisville 17.

I was thinking something like 17-13 three weeks back.
Based on recent events I'll say take a sip of orange kool aid and go 31-20. Tigers 3-0.

I think we win because UL is not even a shell of what they were last year and our defense hasn't dropped a whole heck of a lot if any. I still can't believe I am even typing that. That's just awesome.
DW hasn't even been in for a full game yet this year so our offense probably is a lot better then we've seen thus far.
I still think that the middle of our OL is pretty suspect. I hope TE and JS stop trying to run up the middle on 2nd and long. It's just not there.
The snapping is a huge concern still as is our FG kicking.
I am really concerned with our KOs being short and KO coverage. I also I am extremely worried about our KG kicking.
I think that our secondary hasn't really been tested. I would like to see what they do under some pressure from a good passing team.
Peake had an early drop and our TEs looked horrible in some blocking attempts. Peake rebounded nicely in the App St game.
I think Ray Ray breaks a few returns this year. Hopper looks like he is ready to compete.
Our back-up QB situation really worries me. If DW goes down then this season goes straight downhill but we knew that before.
Hyatt, wow, what else can you say about him. I hope he holds up against some of the better DEs like FSU and ND will throw at us.
Dodd has been a disappointment.
Overall we're ok and we take this one 35 to 10.

Louisville is garbage this year. Fairly close at half. Tigers run away in the 2nd. Clemson 37 Louisville 13

I would be pleased with that score, especially on the road, with less time to prepare. I hope we can get ahead early to put the pressure on Loonyville's offense. If we can run the ball, don't turn over the ball, play decent special teams, and play solid defense, we'll be fine.

as I do after the first two weeks. That's my biggest concern on our end. That and our kickoff coverage.
This is Louisville's biggest game of the season, especially when looking at the rest of their home schedule - it's pitiful. Hopefully the woeful start will cut into the vibe of the crowd at the start.
37-13 Tigers, with a defensive or special teams score and 5 FG attempts.

While I would love to agree with you, I also know that Vegas is right more often than not. We are supremely more talented than UL in almost every position.....and that is why we win. But, their schemes are a match up nightmare for us. DW4 struggled against them early last year before exiting with finger injury and only the awareness/speed/hustle of Kearse saved the game for us.
Our screen game will find little success vs the Cards, as they will take away that part of the field with squatting corners (lots of cover 2). And with the 2 safeties on top, they will dare us to run the ball and be patient. If we had run up and down the field versus Wofford and App I would feel better about this, but the truth of it is that we did not (not early and often anyways).
UL and Petrino will make us win the game on the ground and take away any and all deep threats by keeping us in front. We will see how much this team has matured on offense for sure this week...mainly in their ability to get 1st downs on the ground. DW's legs are the wild card. If he can find some running lanes and be a weapon in the zone read game (2 things he hasn't unveiled yet in 2015 for the most part), then the offense will truly be clicking on all cylinders.
Talent (and our Tigers) will win out, but I will be shocked if we light up the scoreboard. Our defense will be dominant again, but Petrino will find a way to score some. I'm thinking 27-17 good guys, with us keeping them at arms length in 2nd half.

The biggest thing that worriers me about this game is this, they feel they have to defend off going 0 and 3 and avoid getting their first conference loss with everything in the ACC still wide open. They are needing to save their season one game at a time and starting with this one.

I don't think they score more than...

...20 pts on our D, just don't see it happening...10 - 17 being more realistic. DW says healthy, we have way too much offensive juice not to easily cover those numbers.
Tigers score at least 31.

It has a sort of 2013 NC State feel to me...

The Wuffies came out emotional and disrupted us through the first half. We settled down and took over after halftime.
With our combination of young guys on the road for the first time and the Cards' need to salvage, things could get tight early on ... unless, of course, we just put out boot up their collective rear.
Deuteronomy precludes me from making an exact final prediction, but I will take anything more than 3 points and come home happy on a short week night game.

smiling Tiger: Very good analysis IMO! This game will be close at the start but then Mr. Watson takes over, our D scores 1-2 TD's, our O scores via the pass many times and it ends up as Tigers 48 LOserville 13.
