QB - Even WR - Clemson RB - USC OL - USC TE - USC DL - USC (Although Beasley is unbelievable pass rusher) LB - Clemson CB - USC Safties - Even ST - Clemson
I've always thought this kind of comparison is silly. Because Our OL doesn't play your OL. It should be OL vs DL, WR vs. DB etc.

Agree with your last sentence. This is how I would put the units:
Clemson OL vs South Carolina DL: Large advantage SC South Carolina OL vs Clemson DL: Even to possibly slight advantage Clemson Clemson WR vs South Carolina DBs: significant advantage Clemson South Carolina WR vs Clemson DBs: Our Corners have played well but our safeties haven't...I'm not particularly well versed on South Carolina's WRs, but I've heard this is a weak area for SC, so I'll say even.
These are the only real direct matchups I can think of. Overall, Tajh is a better QB than Connor Shaw but Tajh has played terrible in both of his games against South Carolina and Shaw played very well in 2011...so for this, I think it's fair to call the QB matchup even. I think it's going to be critical for us to successfully run some draw plays with Hot Rod early in the game in order to keep Tajh clean, and mentally unshaken. If we can do this, I think we will be in great shape. Ultimately the game hinges on him.
The RB position is also an advantage for South Carolina.

You give us too much credit. USC has the better more aggressive D. They are just an all around more physical football team. Stopping Shaw in the pocket won't be the problem, it's when his ugly ### gets outside and scrambles.

Also, our D-Line is every bit as physical, and our linebackers are far superior. We do have a big question mark at FS.

What makes Boyd better?
Nov 25, 2013, 10:14 PM
|
|
Boyd has flashier statistics that come with being in a passing offense.
Boyd has 120 more attempts yet only 9 more touchdowns and 6 more interceptions.
Take out the last game when Shaw went to the bench early, Boyd only has 5 more TD passes with 6 more interceptions.

Boyd has much less playing time than Shaw, he's sat the second half in several games, hope Shaw plays like he did against Florida and it will be an "L" for the peckers!!!

but I think Shaw stays calmer in the pocket which is key to the ashes he's had. Both are really good imo. Their OL is one of the best in the country. Our D may be a tad better than theirs from to to bottom, but we will see which one has the most affect on the other's offense. Go Tigers!

Boyd will be an NFL QB, Shaw will not

Tajh is 10x better QB. Shaw spent most of his career running zone read keepers. This is the first year he has been a descent passer, and a lot of that comes from Davis being so dangerous on PA passes. We have atleast 3 future NFL WR's, where as SC has one.... If he can stop being suspended at some point and actually see the feild. TE- SC is better mainly because their TE's are actually blockers most of the time an slip out on occasion and catch a pass, where as Clemsons are mainly recievers. But much better recievers than SC's TE's. DL- SC.... Duh OL- toss up? I would say that we both have a future NFL OT. Thomas for us, Shell for SC. Overall probably leans to SC. CB's- Clemson. I know V. Hampton has apparently had a break out year and all, but I believe when all are healthy ours are better. LB- duh.... Clemson ST- another duh ... Clemson RB- SC.... Davis is an animal.. Hate it but its true. Hot rod is serviceable but I think our RS freshmen are both better than Rod ( Dye/ Gallman )
Anybody with eyes knows that this game comes down to wether we an block em up front, and can we contain Shaw... That simple... If we establish the run, it will get ugly. Their secondary, especially their LB are not good.. Clowney is all over the feild covering up for their absence nearly every play that gets past the front 4.

I know our Offense is better than UGA's, UCF's, UK's, UT's and MIZZOU's but somehow those teams either beat SC or scored a bunch. Mizzou was playing a RSF QB and played super conservative once they had a 17-0 lead + have you ever seen a holder botch 2 FG holds in a game? They win if they can do the HS fundimentals on ST.
If UK can score 31 on SC I don't see how Clemson can't. If Tenn can block the clown why can't we? If Uga can score 41.... Anyway u get my point.

They have an edge on their DL vs our OL and with Blanks out, they certainly have an advantage in the secondary.
Other than that, your list looks pretty good.
