247Sports ranked a set of 13 unique experiences in college football ahead of the 2024 season, slotting Clemson's rubbing of Howard's Rock at No. 9:

"Prior to every home game, Clemson players rub Howard's Rock before running down The Hill in the east end zone. The stone is supposed to give Tigers players 'mystical powers,' according to the school's website. The rock was brought to football coach Frank Howard in the early 1960s as a gift from Samuel C. Jones, who found the stone while driving through Death Valley, Calif. Howard's Rock was first placed on the pedestal at the top of The Hill on Sept. 24, 1966, a game Clemson won 40-35 over Virginia. The team started rubbing the Rock for the first game of 1967, a 23-6 win over Wake Forest on Sept. 23, 1967."

Others on the list that Clemson experiences either this season or typically include Sandstorm at South Carolina (10) and 'Enter Sandman' at Virginia Tech (4; though 247Sports' ranked experience is a Thursday night specifically).

I never understand why Sandstorm is considered so good. To me they are just waving the white flag before the game even starts. That song is older than methuselah too. I just don't get it. Of course I don't have to I am not a coot fan anyway.

I agree. I also do not understand the love for VT’s entrance.

The Crapolina entrance is embarrassingly awkward
