Clemson Total Yards per Game by Season.

2020 - 511 (8th) Trevor's last year
2021 - 348 (98th) DJs first year
2022 - 412 (41st)
2023 - 379 (68th) Cade's first year
2024 - 450 (32nd) after App St

I was curious about it and figured I'd post my findings.

Obviously small sample size this year. Hopefully we see that number creep up more to the high 400s low 500s.

Interestingly the offense got worse when Riley came aboard. May not have been in his control though.

But going from 8th to 98th in one season...wow

I remember during the TLaw era that it was routine to have 500+ yard games even 600+ yards. I’d love for that to become routine again.

I like to look at efficiency numbers more. According to ESPN’s FPI:

2021: 78th
2022: 33rd
2023: 69th
2024: …FIRST

Worth remembering in 2023 the rules were changed in a way that shortens games and reduces number of plays as well. No more clock stopping after a first down until the last 2 minutes.

Dabo stated he believes this stretch was the first in which one of his teams averaged 6.5 yard per play over a 3 game stretch.

You will win a lot of games averaging 6.5 yards per play; i'll tell ya.
