Clemson men's golf

Clemson golf is playing in the last tournament before the acc's. It's on uva's campus. Shotgun start. Lewis Chitengwa Memorial Tournament in Charlottesville, Va. 54 hole tournament. 36 today and 18 tomorrow.

No joke, I was stoked at 130 - the team was -4 and tied for 3rd place. When I came back in at 155, disaster had struck. They're now +4 and 10th place. Link below. Wow. They only had 7 holes left to play. At least they know they can score... but they've dug a deep hole. We really need a great showing in this tournament for regional rankings. If not, I'm afraid we'd have to make a deep run in the acc tournament or we risk missing the regional for the first time EVER.

Helped get them above .500 (key benchmark for NCAA regionals).

Hope they don't lose more ground & can make some up the remaining rounds or else they're gonna need a good showing at ACCT like you said, @clemgalalways

Yes, getting into "The Goodwin " with 31 teams was huge. Especially knowing a lot of smaller schools competing that we knew we would finish above. Smart move.

We're 69-60-1 and I don't know what the 1 is. It's not a tie. We also got a blessing from above at briar with the final round being canceled. Obviously we may have won anyway, but who knows. Had we slipped to 4th... we'd be right on the cut.

Also, I'm assuming that the acc tournament is weighted or calculated the same as a regular tournament. I'm quite sure coach is letting them know how important tomorrow could be.

Just today, we are 27 strokes behind Tennessee ....... not good if we are thinking about another regional invitation.

The good news is there's no where else to go tomorrow except up. We've seen this team do that.

I feel bad for Calahan. Little booger was stroking it until the one bad hole. Shoutout to Sean!!! Fantastic 2nd round. Not sure if Kian is hurt or what. Hasn't played the last couple tournaments.

Anyway, kudos to coach Byrd for taking Calahan either way. This is in all likelihood his last tournament. I'd do backflips if Calahan or Sean hit the circuit and became our best pro golfer from Clemson. You never know.

The postseason goodbye. Will take an absolute miracle tomorrow & at ACCT to change that.

Been 1 step forward & 2 steps back all year w/ this bunch.
