Phillips makes $2.4 Mil so I am sure he is enjoying is job as commissioner. He is just trying to stretch out the life of the ACC as long as he can to pad his bank account for as long as possible.

We received increased payouts from conference TV deals and bowl games while he was commissioner.
We won multiple national championships while he was commissioner.
Yet some of you act like he’s the devil and hurt Clemson. Ridiculous.

IMO: The “increased payouts” were a result of the on field efforts by Clemson and FSU, not the ACC in general and certainly not ACC leadership. Also, IMO, Clemson was punished by the ACC for its first football national championship.
No, Swofford is not the devil. We can argue if he hurt Clemson, but I believe any help he gave us was merely a byproduct of his actions.

That's not the reason for the increased payouts. The primary reasons for the increased payouts were conference expansion increasing the media footprint, creating the conference network, and adding Notre Dame (which facilitated the conference network).

He was consistently the second highest paid commissioner of any P5 conference.
Under his stewardship, ACC payouts slipped from top 2, to bottom 2 among the P5s. He built a fortress around the conference and lied to member schools about the need to sign the long term GoR.
He is a self serving PoS and deserves to be dragged into court and have his self dealings exposed to the public.

He is not my fav but we slipped in terms of payouts due to the landscape changing. The ACC was built around basketball and academic standards. Not his fault that the market changed to only valuing football. Perhaps he could have pushed to add more football centric schools but I doubt the Presidents would have been receptive.

If you believe he deserves any sliver of credit for Clemson’s accomplishments then you must also hold him responsible for destroying basketball programs at Ga Tech, Louisville and Syracuse and football programs at Miami and Va Tech.

I submit we’d have done all those things with Daffy Duck as commissioner. Swofford was never Clemson’s friend while Clemson has been the cash cow of the conference.
I can never remember us getting a square deal from the ACC, Swofford or otherwise
His failure to censure UNC Basketball over their academic fraud was simply astonishing.

Phillips was running from scandal after the Fitzgerald stuff that went on under his watch in the Northwestern AD. I believe he's still currently being sued about it to.

As usual, the records tell a different story. Take time to look up the records of ALL sports and you will see how exceptional the ACC is. Only short sighted people, who focus only on football, do not appreciate how well the ACC does from top to bottom.
